A dear friend of mine has the most beautiful dance regalia. One of the things he wears often for special occasions is his ribbon shirt. I asked if he would mind if I copy it for my boy doll, so here is my version of Nick's Ribbon Shirt. Although my friend only wears the head and knee bands for dancing, I included them in the pattern instructions.
Nick's Ribbon Shirt is a fun pattern to embellish so use your imagination. There is so much you can do with ribbons or other trims. Nick's original shirt was a plain blue so no worries about having Native fabric just let the ribbons or whatever trim you use be the decorations. One tester made the shirt in a flowered linen fabric and added lace to the sleeves at the cuffs for a beautiful girl's tunic….it was so cute. So please have fun with this pattern and enjoy!
This pattern is designed to fit 18" dolls such as American Girl®.

This was just plain fun to sew. Find a piece of fabric, then embellish with your favorite colors. I think it will look great with Kaya's "Powwow Dress" or My AG Doll Creations "Fancy Dancer." Very easy to sew. Buy your ribbon at Michaels - only $0.50 per spool, then make a whole dance troupe!
