I made the garment bag and duffle bag. I used faux leather fabrics, Metallics and fancy zippers for a high end look, and they turned out really fabulous. I did enlarge the garment bag significantly to fit over a large AG hanger. I found it necessary to lengthen the zipper opening in order to slide the dress on the hanger into the garment bag. I also used clear vinyl in the mid section of the garment bag to show off the dress. Doing this requires that you rethink the zipper installation, etc. I recommend this pattern for more experienced sewers who like a head start but have no trouble adapting as needed.
This is a very simple, cute pattern, however there are a couple of problems. The center front piece is too narrow. The pattern doesn't allow for the folds for the zipper and that makes the front about 3/4" narrower than the back. Also, it is very small. I will definitely make this again but will cut both a little wider (in addition to the front panel) and will make it at least three inches longer. None of my dresses fit in it without bunching up. Haven't tried the other two pieces yet.
I have made 4 sets of these cute little bags and tucked a passport in the shoulder bag. My clients LOVE these. thank you!
I like sewing these garment bags and using window sheets for the middle part with the zip. The girls just love getting new outfits in these bags. I match the top and bottom with the outfit and add a Love U Bunches Portable Closet garment bag on for any shoes and accesories. It makes organizing outfits in our dolls cupboard super easy and is great when traveling to a friends house:)
I made the duffle to coordinate with a sleepover outfit and it was adorable! I was able to find the exact fabric used on the patter cover, too. It was a little difficult to attach the circular pieces to the sides. I suggest to pin carefully and sew slowly. I have not sewn the other pieces yet but plan to soon.
