my favorite holiday tradition is just getting to be with family. We have a large family, and we don’t always get to gather on the “right” day at any time of the year, but it’s nice getting to see everyone despite our different locations, work schedules, and all of that!

We have had many Christmas traditions over the years. Some last for generations and some have lasted for just a few years. My favourite was short, but oh so sweet. My grandson would come to Gramma’s house for a weekend before Christmas to give his Mom (my daughter) a chance to finish shopping, wrapping, baking, etc. On that weekend, my grandson and I would decorate a gingerbread house and some cookies. This tradition only lasted a few years, but what wonderful years.

My favorite Christmas tradition is having baked cinnamon rolls Christmas morning. We started this tradition while our children were young. Before we would open our gifts, I would put a tray of cinnamon rolls in the oven, then while we opened our gifts, we ate cinnamon rolls. I was so happy when our girls grew up and had children of their own, they continued this tradition. And, even though my husband and I are senior citizens, we still have baked cinnamon rolls on Christmas morning while we open our gifts to each other. Have a blessed Merry Christmas everyone!

My favorite Holiday tradition is getting together with family and friends. We were 7 children (now we are 4) and our house was open for all friends and neighbours (especially all the single persons with nowhere to go). Now we take turns hosting Christmas as the families have grown. Everyone brings some homemade food and we still have an open house for extended family members. We usually number from 35 to 45 for a great celebration. I’m looking forward to going to my brother’s place this year and seeing family. As I live in another province, this may be the only opportunity to see so of them this year. Merry Christmas to all!

My favorite holiday tradition is picking out an ornament for each of.my children that will memorialize something significant that has happened in their life that year. I have done this every year since they were babies and when my eldest got married and moved out I was able to give her her ornaments for her own tree and added.a bride and first Christmas together to the bundle for when she opened them to decorate her tree. Some years have been so significant that they may have received more than one, but they have had a good start on decorations for their first apartment without having to spend a lot and had a whole.lot of memories to look back on to share with their new spouse as well.

When I was young my Mother made extra food (even though we didn’t have much) and took it to other families at Christmas. This was all my mother received for Christmas during the depression and it was to remind us how Christmas might sometimes only be a Christmas bag with a piece of fruit and some hard candy but it was a gift of love when it was given from a heart filled with love when my grandpa’s pockets were not filled with money.

Our tradition starts by opening new jammies on Christmas Eve.. generally a theme for the whole family, and of course their dolls or bears as well.

Our kids [and now grandchildren] have 2 stockings each year. The first filled with breakfast treats and goodies, fresh fruit that we hang from the door knob or bed post for them to dig into when they awaken.

A second more formal stocking is hung from the hearth with small sweets, chocolate letters and small toys. The fancier ones are only seen when we open the doors to the parlor downstairs much as it would have been in Victorian times.

All in all in allows for a more relaxed time as there is never rushing to open stockings or gifts. Lots of music, fun and fellowship all throughout Christmas Day..

We also follow with a small advent style gift for each child through the 12 days of Christmas and have a huge feast and open house on Epiphany, January 6th.

Merry Christmas to All

Peace and many blessings for your holiday and 2018. Many sewing days ahead for dolls and Zambia purses.
