Fun & Easy Shoe Spiff

UPDATE:  Thanks to everyone who entered our giveaway! It is now closed, the winner is comment #36, Sandy, who said "My favorite pair of shoes are the boots, oh my just love me some good boots." How right you are, Sandy! We'll be in contact with you via email soon :)

Itching for a new project? How about giving those boring old doll shoes a makeover?

All you need is some fabric or lace, your plain shoes, and some mod podge!

Start by taking off any embellishments (these little bows just peeled right off).

Cut an oval-shaped piece of lace or fabric; make it slightly larger than the shoe so you have enough to overlap. Cut a slit up the back.

Coat the shoe with mod podge, and gently position the lace, arranging it so that the slit lands at the back. Trim off the extra at the back, leaving just enough for a small overlap.

Trim off the extra lace around the sole line. Stick down any rebellious raw edges with more mod podge!

Trim the extra fabric around the inside edge of the shoe down to about 1/4" or 3/8", and cut little slits into the remaining lace. Then, glue the little lace 'tabs' down into the inside of the shoe. Give the shoe a final coat of mod podge, and let it dry overnight.

Embellishment time! After much deliberation, I went for these little fabric flowers; but you could just as easily use sequins, beads, buttons, or ribbon bows. (So many options!) In any case, hot glue works wonders to affix them to the shoe.

NOW: would you like to win this pair of shoes, instead of making them? Super!

To enter, just leave a comment answering this question: "My favorite pair of shoes is..."  (because, let's be honest, who doesn't love a good shoe story!)

We'll run the giveaway through Monday, May 5th, pick a winner randomly, and contact them via email.

Thanks for following along, and happy shoe-spiffing!

For Pixie Faire,
Melinda

Really enjoyed this! Just remembered, I found an amazing christmas party jordan fisher red jacket online recently, and it’s become my favorite piece. Totally worth it!
