Common Supplies Needed For Making Doll Shoes

Be sure to read the supplies list of the shoe pattern you choose to know exactly what supplies you will need. Here is a general list of common supplies for making shoes:

  • A small piece of fabric such as quilting cotton, twill, faux leather, or wide trim
  • Narrow trim or elastic for details
  • X-Acto knife 
  • Hot glue or Tacky Glue
  • Fray Check or other liquid seam sealant
  • Foam and chip board shoe soles   

A Bit About Shoes Soles

Pixie Faire has spent years developing the optimal pre-cut foam and chip board shoe soles to use for making your own doll shoes. The four different shapes we offer have been specifically designed to fit 18-inch dolls (Shapes 1 and 4), 13-14-inch dolls such as Hearts For Hearts Girls® (Shape 2), and 14.5-inch dolls such as WellieWishers™ (Shape 3). A variety of shoe patterns have been designed for use with each of these precut soles, which will be mentioned down below.

    I love so many of the shoe patterns and love them all. But I think my favorite are the liberty Jane’s. That one pattern can be done in patent leather, fabric, faux leather. Dress up or dress down. Even in denim. I love it. So versatile!

    I love to wear my Birkenstock sandals when the snow and cold finally leaves my province so I’m picking that style. No supplies to make this type of shoe available around here unfortunately
