Preparing the Pattern Pieces

Before we cut the fabric, we need to prepare pattern the new pattern pieces for the front bodice.

You will need the following pattern pieces:

  • Pattern Pieces A, B, C and F from “The Ruffle “V” Top Pattern

  • Pattern Piece A from The Mock Neck Dress. Cut along the pink line

Place Piece A (Ruffle “V” Top) over Piece A (Mock Neck Dress). Ensure the shoulder lines up on the sleeve side (Pink arrow). Mark with a pen/pencil.

Place Piece B (Ruffle “V” Top) over the other Piece A (Mock Neck Dress). Ensure the neck lines up on the neck side (Pink arrow). Mark with a pen/pencil.

Cut along the marked lines and discard the pieces as shown (pink X).

Label new pattern pieces for front of ruffle dress A for the bodice and B for the V inset.

Follow STEPS 1 to 12 from the “Ruffle “V” top pattern to complete the front of the bodice.

This will replace Pattern Piece A for the rest of the dress assembly.

Cut the remaining pieces using the cutting layout for the “Mock Neck Dress”

One of my favorite holiday traditions is decorating! Very room is touched by the magic of Christmas, garland with red bows and balls, pinecones dabbed with a smidge of fake snow, soft white lights intertwined, nativities, with the sound of Christmas music playing. Ugh it’s time to start the decorating!

My favourite thing about Christmas is decorating the tree, the house and setting up my village. Every year I have received something for the village from my two children. Now my two grandsons are old enough, they are also giving me gifts for my village. I love getting all the boxes out and getting the stores, church and homes organized. It’s a labour of love and now the boys get to turn on the village lights on Dec 1. We have hot chocolate and gingerbread cookies.

One of my favorite traditions is gathering around the Christmas tree with the grandchildren, carols playing in the background, and snacking on hot chocolate and cookies we made earlier, as well as popcorn. Each child gets to put on her special ornament, bought when they were born. Most ornaments hold special memories of vacations or other memories.

One of my favorite holiday traditions is actually one that my kids do. Every Christmas Eve they all sleep in the same bed together. There are three of them that range from 6 to 14. I love that they enjoy spending the one night close to each other. I love to hear them whisper and giggle as I’m constantly reminding them to go to sleep. I hope this tradition lasts.

Christmas traditions in the ‘olden days’ when I was small meant a visit to our Grandmother’s house with our Dad every Christmas Eve. When we’d arrive back home,we’d find that Santa had come! We’d open our gift and spend family time together until time to leave for midnight church services. I always loved hearing the choir singing, lights twinkling and the ‘magic’ of Baby Jesus’ birth!

One of my favorite traditions has always been on Christmas morning. We would all go see what was in our stockings (what Santa left). then we sat down for a special breakfast before opening the presents under the tree. We made sure each person got their three gifts, after all Jesus got three, why would we get more?

“ONE OF MY FAVORITE HOLIDAY TRADITIONS IS” To set up a Christmas Tree even if it is a very small one. When I was born our home was burned down. Sister died within a few years after that and my parents had to work in the fields. We slept in tents, we were cold, and hungry most of the time. We ate from trash cans and Christmas never came until one day when I was in 7th grade. This in it self is an other story. We lived in Texas where tumble weeds were always around. One Christmas I took one and decorated like a tree and this was our Christmas tree that year. So when I married my husband he promised that as long as he was alive he would provide a tree for me. Sometimes we have had a small one, but for most of our years we have had an average one. But, we still have had a Christmas tree. We have been very sick this year, but we are still going to set a small one. This is our Holiday tradition.

My favorite holiday tradition is decorating the Christmas tree. I admire each ornament and remember the story behind it. Like who made it or where we bought it. Some are from vacations or made by friends or my children. Most ornaments have a special remembrance.

One of my favourite holiday traditions is sending out Christmas cards with special crocheted ornaments for the recipient’s tree. My two children have long since grown up and are on their own. No grandchildren, but I joke and say their pets are my grandkids lol. Every year the cards have a new ornament I’ve crocheted, and they always send back a picture with it hanging in their tree :) I’ve also done this for the few friends I have as well, and also send a few out to folks in the military who can’t get back home for the holidays, and don’t have a lot of mail from someone.

Making Christmas breakfast with my mother on Christmas Eve … so we can enjoy watching the kids open their presents in the morning. Also, I love the joke gift my son gives to my granddaughter. One year she got a sack of potatoes in one of her boxes. Like a dutiful daughter with impeccable manners, she said thank you.

One of my favorite Christmas traditions is making pizza with my boys for our Christmas dinner. When we started this I was a single patent and the lids had no interest in a big turkey dinner. They wanted pizza and it had the sdded bonus of letting me relax and watch them play with all there nrw stuff.

One of my favorite holiday traditions is our trip to the tree farm to pick out a Christmas tree with our son’s family, including the four grand kiddos. We make a day of it; we spend time to find just the right tree, warm up with a cup of cocoa, & pay a visit to Santa. We have lunch together & help their family put up the tree that evening.
