Hi Everyone! This week we go a bit deeper into the the topic of fabric storage and organization. I've been working hard to solve some of my fabric storage challenges, and thanks to many of the tips shared here, I'm making progress in my space! In the video posted below, I'll share with you my before and after fabric storage. After seeing some examples of fabrics wrapped on comic book boards, I was inspired to redo my "shelved fabrics". I also have a few examples of some other fabric storage ideas.... Enjoy!

I have patterns like those from Pixie Faire in protector sleeves in blinders by type. Other patterns from the store I have in 3 drawer plastic storage. I’ve organized my material on closet shelves by type or in see through plastic storage bins. I would be great to see some of the ideas in the comments on this topic in pictures!
I have a magnetic board above my sewing machines so I can put up my current pattern. I also store my patterns in ziplock bags in a tote, organized by maker.
I have wire shelving units in my sewing closet, so trying to stand folded fabrics doesn’t work. I use plastic see through bins and stand the folded fabric inside each. I have several bins for printed cottons, one for special holiday fabrics like Halloween, patriotic prints, etc, one for sparkle and glitter fabrics, etc. While it isn’t as great as being able to see what I have all of the time, it does help me to keep organized.

I actually found a silverware drawer organizer for $6-7 at Walmart that was the perfect colors for my sewing room and the exact right size for the top drawer in my sewing table. The slots were all rectangular instead of shaped like spoons and forks, so it made it really easy to organize things like pencils and scissors and seam rippers and I love that it’s one piece so I don’t have to worry about the different segments sliding around when I open and close the drawer.
