Sewing Tiny Accessories Part 1

Hi Everyone! Welcome to the Sewing Tiny Accessories Topic! In this four-part series Shari and I will be jumping back and forth between past and present with a look at creating tiny accessories for our dolls. The tutorials featured in both paths can be applied to either time period, while the techniques demonstrated are each highlighted with a specific project in mind. Are you ready to explore this topic? Let's get started!

The series will be divided into four installments:

  • Part 1 My Hand Embroidered Shoe Project
  • Part 2 Shari's hand braided cording tutorial
  • Part 3 A Tiny Tote Featuring English Paper Piecing 1/4" Hexies!
  • Part 4 Learn The Saint Brigitta Stitch With Shari!

Today I'm kicking things off with a project that I've been working on that carries over from the 2025 Trends topic. It was mentioned that Open Toe Shoes are on-trend this spring/summer and with that, the idea to pattern hack my Open Toe Janes pattern immediately popped into my mind!

Follow along in this video to see what I'm working on:

So, that's where I'm at and I could really use your help to choose which embroidery design to move forward with! Tell me your vote in the comments below.

I'll continue to work on these shoes and post updates in the Facebook group - so stay tuned!

  • I used a variety of Aurifil Threads and Floss in my project.  You can find it at The Fat Quarter Shop by the spool and in collection sets.

I like both, but the flowers really stand out to me. So I vote for the flowers.

Love fireworks or you could cut flowers from the fabric used iron on material stuff and hand sew along the edge of the flowers

I am partial to flowers. I also like the asymetrical design. Both are fun!
