Petals-n-Pleats, from Fashioned by Rebecca, is a 1930s styled dress designed to fit 18" dolls. The shape of the dress is an A-line shape with inverted pleats in both front and back. This little frock is knee length with a yoke in front that comes to a point in the center. Short sleeves are gathered at shoulder and onto sleeve band. A contrasting collar is made up of two pieces meeting in the center front. The dress closes in the back with an invisible zipper. A sweet little bow hand sewn onto center front completes the look!
This PDF sewing pattern is designed to fit 18" dolls such as American Girl®.

I've made lots of little girl dresses in similar styles so this was easy to make, just in smaller scale. I love the tiny puffed sleeves and pleats. I like that it has a zipper up the back for easy dressing. I used a regular zipper instead of an invisible zipper. I'm modeling it on a Pleasant Company doll and it is little snug but it still fits. The perfect birthday gift for my little friend. A cute and classic dress design.
This pattern was a bit frustrating for me. The instructions were clear...but for some reason I struggled. I am not a beginning sewer. :) I think part of my problem was that my material selection was one that frayed easy. I will try this one again in a cotton. Also I was ironing the pleat in the front and ended up burning the material...it was just a little bit of a yellowed coloration...so I made a flower thing to go over that part! It worked. :)
Very well explained pattern with lots of nice photo inspiration. Clear instructions and tips to make your sewing project a cinch. Love it.
Have loved everything I've ever purchased from Pixie Faire and this pattern did not disappoint. I'm making doll clothes for a couple of grand nieces who are overwhelmed being stuck at home due to COVID, and their receiving a package of doll clothes from me has cheered them up! Thanks for such great products to make me look like a wonderful great aunt!
