Duster Driving Set 18" Doll Clothes

In the early days of the automobile, the Duster was a wardrobe "must have".  Roads during this time were dusty when dry and turned muddy when it rained, so the Duster (previously worn on sooty trains) was called back into service -- but this time styling details were added so a lady could confidently "be seen" as she motored in public.
This double-breasted Duster Driving Set PDF pattern, by Flossie Potter, features oodles of tiny buttons, piping trim wherever possible, and pleats in the back princess seams to accommodate even the fullest skirt.  One side of the Duster can be worn open to showcase a velvet facing.
But that's not all – this pattern also includes instructions for the tiny goggles and gloves!

 

Supplies Needed:
-Sewing machine with a zipper foot
-Serger is helpful
 
Duster
-2/3 yd (45-in wide) thin fabric*
-1/2 yd velvet or contrast fabric (an 8" wide remnant will work)
-6" x 8" piece of interfacing
-102" piping
-(29) 1/4" buttons
-(7) 1/4" snaps
 
Goggles & Gloves 
-4" x 52" piece of faux leather (MUST be very pliable and thin)*
-(2) 2" x 2" squares of plastic*
-(3) 1/2" lingerie sliders*
-3 1/2" of 1/4" elastic
-Manila file folder
