It’s a fact: whether your 18” doll is one of the privileged few to own a yacht, or whether she just aspires to attend parties on board one someday, she’ll need the right dress - one with all the class and snappiness of the yacht itself, and preferably one with a distinctly nautical flair. We at Melody Valerie Couture think our new Yacht Club dress will fit the bill perfectly.
This dress features flat-felled seams (a traditional technique used in fine shirtmaking), which provides a clean interior finish without requiring a lining. Add snappy, streamlined styling and six stylish buttons to close down the front, and you have a light, sturdy, and unencumbered dress -- perfect for an afternoon on the yacht!
This dress PDF pattern will work well in cotton seersucker, lightweight sateen, or cotton lawn; or, for a fun Americana look, try a lightweight, non-stretch denim-look fabric.
-1/3 yard main fabric (scraps of fabric for contrast if desired)
-6 - 1/4” wide buttons
-6 small (size 4/0) snaps
-15” ribbon to enclose waist seam

Loved this pattern, I changed up the skirt to create a shirt from the dress, I fully plan to make this pattern again as shown. Thank you for such a detailed well written pattern.
I absolutely love this pattern. The possibilities are endless. It is fun yet challenging, but the end result is adorable! I keep coming back to this pattern!
While this might not be the project for new seamstresses, for those with experience, it's a lot of fun to put together. I enjoyed the dressmaking details, such as the felled seams and the contrasting front trim. Though the skills for this might be a little beyond "beginner," the well written and illustrated instructions will make it easy for those who want to try something with a bit of designer "chic." Nicely done!
