This topic was originally launched in the month of December, so we focused a bit on the Holiday Sweater project and because it was a traditionally busy month, I thought it would be fun to create a topic filled with fun and easy upcycling projects! There are so many opportunities to use thing we already have to make super adorable doll items. I'm excited to show you a few of my favorite upcycling secrets. The tutorials demonstrated work for clothing pieces that can be worn at any time of year, not just the holidays. See the example images to view some adorable sock sweaters!
Throughout this 4 part topic, we will explore our options and experiment using ready-made things as the basis for your projects. To kick things off, I'll be demonstrating a classic - How to make a darling sweater from a pair of socks! This technique can be used to make sweaters for any time of year, but it's perfect for the Annual Fun and Festive Holiday Sweater Contest!
Over the course of this 4 part topic we will cover:

This is fabulous! The video is very clear and makes the techniques very easy to do. Love the advice for looking in thrift stores for all sorts of fabrics to use. I already enjoy shopping in thrift stores, but hadn't thought of looking for suitable doll fabrics in the clothing. Knit ribbing is almost impossible to find in the fabric stores any more, so I'll definitely be looking for ribbing on garments to be upcycled.
I had a great experience with this product. It was full of easy to use patterns that are true to size. The idea of using socks to make sweaters for my granddaughters American Girl dolls was fun. I like upcycling clothes for the dolls.
This was really fun. The thing that made the most impression on me was that Cinnamon was "making it work" even though the pattern didn't fit perfectly, the stretch lets you work with it. Inspired by the examples, I took the feet that I had left over from making tights from socks and turned them into a little shrug to coordinate with the tights. Thanks for making it available!
Part 1 and the segment converting the sweater to a front closure using zippers was very helpful and informative . However , I was surprised to realize in order to use the video , I had to purchase the patterns separately. Hesitant to purchase more video courses as I’m note sure what additional expenses will be required ie patterns . All in all I’m happy I purchased after the fact , just found it disappointing to have to add extra expense.
