Love the look of a straw hat, but can't find one you like to fit your doll. This pattern, by Thimbles and Acorns, will show you how to create three different types of doll-size straw hats from a single ladies size paper raffia straw hat. Use half of the brim of the hat to make a Summery Sun visor with an elastic back that will be perfect for day at the beach or a summer picnic. Want to do a little historical costuming? Use the other half of the brim to make a Soft Crown Regency Bonnet. Finally, reshape the crown of the hat to make a modern looking Somerset hat or a 19th century Poke Bonnet. All these hats are fairly easy to make and a great way to repurpose used paper straw hats.
This pattern is designed to fit 18-inch dolls such as American Girl®.

Love the hats, but I love all your patterns, wish I could afford more. Thank you so much
I’ve only made the Soft Crown Regency Bonnet from this set. It went together fairly easily and looks great in my Regency Wardrobe. I was a little uncertain about cutting up my thrift store hat, but it ended up being quite easy and I love the authentic straw look it adds to the hat.
