Fabric-covered bulletin board

Here's another fun project to do for your doll -- make her a fabric-covered bulletin board to keep all her pictures, ticket stubs, and to-do lists in order. 

All you'll need is an old frame (8" x 10" works great for dolls), some cork, and a couple scraps of awesome fun fabric, like the Field Day collection from Josephine Kimberling (that's what we're using here). Set aside or dispose of the glass from the frame, but be sure to keep all the fasteners!

Start by cutting a piece of cork big enough to fit in your frame. For the fun two-tone look, cut the cork sheet in half diagonally. 

Next, cut a piece of scrap fabric big enough to cover a piece of cork, plus some extra for overhang. (BTW, you can see the rest of the designs in this super fun collection at

Using a glue stick, tack the wrong side of the fabric to the top of the cork. Smooth the fabric flat across the surface, then turn the cork over so that the uncovered side is facing up.  

Trim away the extra fabric on the corners, then glue the raw edges to the wrong side of the cork sheet. I used hot glue for this step -- much quicker drying than a glue stick!

Repeat to cover the other half of the cork. 

Glue the fabric-covered cork to the cardboard that came in your frame, then put the frame back together.
