Need a quick craft fix? Making a checkerboard for your dolls will give everybody hours of fun!
You'll need two colors of fabric, a square of heavy cardboard, buttons for game pieces, and of course, Mod Podge.
A rotary cutter will make short work of cutting all those tiny squares!
Before you break out the ModPodge, it's a good idea to protect your work surface with a piece of waxed paper.
Once you have the board covered in fabric, it's time to make the checkered side!
To help place the 5/8" fabric squares, you can use a pencil and ruler to lightly draw in a 5/8" grid. Or, if you feel confident, you can just free-hand it. :D
Once your board is good and dry, grab a friend and start playing!

Thank you this is such a cute idea to make for my granddaughter-I will have to teach her how to play checkers as she has Autism. But it will be fun!
I think I will use this as a craft with the girls who meet with me to sew doll clothes each month. I’ll include a small zipper bag to keep the buttons in which will also have them sewing while the ModPodge is drying. Oh what fun!

This is so cute. My 4 granddaughters, ages 11, 6, 5 and 4 will be here his summer and this is a great craft for them to do and take back home with them. A TIME SHARED with grandma craft. What an awesome idea!
