Hi Everyone! This week we have a super cute pattern hack that's perfect for welcoming Spring 2021! This blog post is brought to us from our newest content creator, @graceloves2bake from Instagram. We love her fresh take on the patterns we've published and her photos are the cutest too! So without futher ado... here's more from the author:
I purchased the Primrose Dress and All Occasion Dress patterns with no intention of using them together. After making a dress from each of these patterns, I kept thinking how adorably they would go together! It seems as if they were made for each other! One of the things I love about these patterns is that they are both available in 18 inch and Wellie Wisher sizes! Today I will show you how to combine the 14.5" patterns to make this dress for your Ruby Red Fasion Friends doll!
You will need:
❀ Buzzin Bea Primrose Dress Pattern
❀ 123 Mulberry Street All Occasion Dress Pattern
❀ ¼ yard Fabric (Type of fabric as suggested in pattern instructions)
❀ Scissors (I chose to use pinking shears)
❀ Sewing Machine
❀ Hook & Loop Tape (I cut mine 2 inches by ⅜ inches)
❀ Pins
Step 1:
Print and cut out your pattern pieces. You should have four blouse pieces from the Primrose Pattern plus a sleeve ruffle. (I cut my ruffle 3 inches by 6 inches for my Ruby Red Fashion Friend. If you are making this for a Wellie Wisher or an 18 inch doll, cut the sleeve ruffle according to the pattern specifications.) You should have four pattern pieces for your skirt as well.
Step 2:
Cut the pieces out according to the pattern instructions. (Keep in mind that if you are making this for a Ruby Red Doll, like me, you will need to add an inch to the bottom of the skirt. For any other doll you can leave the pattern as is.)
Step 3:
Sew your blouse, following the instructions given by Buzzin Bea in the Primrose Pattern.
Step 4:
Sew your skirt according to 123 Mulberry Street’s instructions.
Step 5:
Pin your skirt and bodice good sides together, lining up the side seams. Sew together.
Step 6:
Topstitch along the middle seam.
Step 7:
This is the part where I always try the dress on my doll, just to make sure it will fit properly before I add the hook and loop tape.
Following the instructions in the Primrose Pattern, add your hook and loop tape.
And your dress is finished! Snap a few photos and share your new creation with us!

I would pair it with a wide Brim hat and sandals.
The bag is so cute and easy to make. I would pair it with a hat using the same technique as the bag
I would add a wide brimmed hat, choker-type necklace of ribbon, and sandals.
Thank you for this chance to win a gift card :)
Tote Bag and Flip Flops
sandals, hat that pony tail can come out of, large purse.
I love the straw tote. In addition I would add ballet flats and a floppy hat.
I think she’d be cute with an Easter basket or tote with a bunny…and a cute easter bonnet (hat)! Thanks for running this give-away.
A straw hat, necklace and flats for shoes.
A sun hat for sure!
A watering can and bouquet of flowers
I would pair the dress with a pair of brown cowboy boots with hanging tassels and the words Pixie Faire sparkling on each side of the boots. On the front of the boots I would have the sparkle also.
I would pair the dress with a pair of brown cowboy boots, they would have tassels hanging on each side and decorated with Pixie Faire words along side each boot, with sparkles to show off the words. Sparkles on the front of the boot also.
I think the plain neckline cries out for a necklace or pendant. A large brimmed hat would be cute, too, with flowers.
For accessories, I would add a straw hat with ribbon & flowers, a white shoulder bag & pink or white sandals.
Definitely red shoes and a hat or scarf.
Would love to wIn this prize! I would add red shoes to match the beautiful cherries on the print of her dress.
I think she needs a toy bunny to hold.
I would make a matching wide brimmed hat in the same fabric or the lining the same colour, and add a tote bag or picnic basket and cute sandals. So perfect for a picnic, walk in a park, just adorable.
I think she needs a puppy, a good book and a daisy.
Very cute. Perfect for an outing on a sunny summer day!
I think a big hat and sandals!
A big straw hat and handbag, with cute sandals.
Espadrilles, chunky bracelet, sunglasses and straw hat!
Bracelets would be nice peeking out from under the sleeves and a raffia hat that does not over power the doll. I might add a tassel on the bag.
I think adding a summery hat, handbag and red sandals or espadrilles would be adorable. And if the handbag and hat had embroidered cherries to match her dress it would be perfect.
A necklace or earrings would be really cute
I would add a cute little necklace to accent the plain neckline and perhaps some gladiator sandals to match the colors in the dress. Perhaps a hand-crocheted purse would complete the look.
She needs a choker and a macrame bag!
She would look so cute with a straw hat and an Easter basket!
I would pair this cute dress with a sweet pair of sandals from Miche Designs!
I would put her in maryjane shoes and a Straw hat.
Cute spring hat with spring/summer scarf that can be removed to wear in hair or around the neck. Cute spring pearls, sandals and purse.
I would put a strip of offsetting fabric on the waistline or make a belt of an offsetting color. Some lace at the end of the sleeves would be nice. A shawl either crocheted or made of an offsetting color would bring out the dress. A matching pair of sandals and headband would be nice.
I think it’d look great with a fun and funky bag, hat, and some cool shoes
I would add a white hat and red sandals.
hat and platform sandals and purse to make the dress
I will add a nice neckless.
What a sweet dress. For me Spring is usually a little chilly to be wearing sandals so I would probably just put her in Mary Jane shoes or plain shoes and then depending on where she is headed lacy white socks or plain white socks. Might add a headscarf or floppy hat and a purse.
A straw hat, bag and sandals.
Thank you for the straw bag idea!
It’s sweet and light. I’d add white lacy sandals and maybe a white hat but nothing more. Perhaps a book of poetry to read when she comes to a quiet spot. And maybe a cat to purr on her lap as she does so. A gray one.
Great tutorial for combining two sweet patterns. Me, I hate the word hack. It is way over used.
I would make a dainty bead necklace and matching bracelet.

It looks like an Easter dress and we always wore white gloves for Easter. They could be made like a mitten, but sew “finger” lines before sewing the backs and fronts together.

This looks like a cute and comfy dress to go shopping at Shipshewanna so how about a nice broad brim hat to keep the sun off, comfortable shoes for walking and a nice market tote. Everyone has their own Shipshewanna near by, from Julian California to Waccama Pottery in the Carolinas. I hope you get to enjoy some of those spots this year. Happy stitching!
