Follow along in this fun and easy pattern hack tutorial as @graceloves2bake shows us how to turn the Peppermint Snow Beret into a Strawberry Beret!
I had “sew” much fun with this project! The Beret itself sews up very quickly! Once the beret was ready for embellishments, I turned on an audiobook and took my time. This project is perfect for a cold night in front of the fire or to take outside on a warm spring day! It’s very relaxing!
What you will need:
🍓 Pink or red beret* (I used Eden Ava Couture’s Peppermint Snow Outfit)
🍓 Green felt
🍓 Needle
🍓 Thread (Green and white work best)
🍓Pearl beads (with holes so they can be sewn onto the beret)
*We have a large selection of beret style hat patterns, Click here to see them all.
Step 1:
I started by cutting out a square of green felt 2in x 2in for the 18" doll size (1.5in x 1.5 for WellieWishers or Ruby Red Fashion Friends). I trimmed my square down into a leaf shape and used that leaf as a guide to cut out 3 more. I also cut out a very thin strip 1.5in long for my stem (1in for WW or RR).
Step 2:
Use a whipstitch to sew one of the smaller ends of the stem to the center of the beret. Then whipstitch the other side of the same end. This will help it to stay straight.
Step 3:
Whipstitch just the end of your leaves to the center of your beret. The sides of your leaves should overlap a little.
Step 4:
Sew a scattering of tiny pearl beads over your beret. These are to represent the strawberry’s seeds.
Now all that's left is to style your doll with coordinating pieces and she'll be ready to show off her new look!
