Let's get started..

Supplies Needed:

  • ⅓ yard suggested fabric
  • 25” of .” elastic
  • 10” of cording (optional)
  • Fray-Away® or similar product (optional)
  • Thread
  • Needle appropriate for fabric.

Suggested Fabrics: light-weight twill, light-weight, light-weight corduroy, lightweight
denim or quilting cottons.

Before we cut the fabric, we need to prepare pattern pieces. You will need the following pattern pieces: H, I and J (you will need to print 2 pattern piece I).

NOTE: You can choose to make the joggers with pattern pieces F and G for a narrow leg using the suggested fabric with a slight stretch.

FUN IDEA: If you want cropped joggers, remove 1" off the bottom of pattern pieces I and J (or F and G).

Using pocket (pattern piece H) as a guide cut one of the pant fronts (pattern piece I).

NOTE: Pattern piece H is now your pocket facing.

This is what it should look like...

Trace pocket (pattern piece H) onto the second pant front (pattern piece I).

Cut and keep the pocket piece and discard the rest.

NOTE: This is now your pocket lining.

Finished pattern pieces. Cut 2 of each.

Cut following pieces:

Waistband- 14” x 2”

Leg cuffs- 7” x 1 3/4” (cut 2)

These pieces will be used instead of the ribbing or you can use the ribbing.

TIP: Cutting the waistband on the bias will help the waistband sit better.

With RIGHT sides together pin pocket facing (pattern piece H) to front of pants. Stitch with a 1/4” seam.

Stitch with a 1/4" seam.

Turn facing to the inside of the pants.

Top stitch the edge of the pocket.

With RIGHT sides together place pocket lining on pocket facing.

Stitch pocket with a .1/4” seam.

Zigzag stitch or serge pocket.

Stay stitch top of pocket to pants front inside the seam allowance.

REPEAT pockets for other side of pants.

Follow STEPS 40-44 disregarding the references to stretching the ribbing.

Your pant should look like this now.

Cut two pieces of 7” x .1/2” elastic. Mark the ends 1” either end of the elastic

Insert elastic through the cuffs, stitch at the 1” marks.

Clip elastic.

Follow STEPS 45-59 (reversing STEPS 45 & 46) and disregarding the references to
stretching the ribbing.
TIP: Check your waist length after the front rise is sewn. It may need to be shortened
depending on fabric choice.

NOTE: If you want to add a faux front fly after the front seam is sewn.

Your pants are now finished!

My favourite sports team is Huntsville Hurricane Basketball team because my daughter played for them for many years. The excellence of their coaching staff allowed her to travel all over Ontario and parts of the US, and play College ball where they were good enough to make it to the nationals.

Gail Orr

My favorite sports team is the Edmonton Oilers because I have been watching them since I was born

Janine S

My favorite sports team is the Boston Red Sox, as I grew up watching them and now my RI and MA cousins, who are fanatics, keep me updated.

Marjory W

My favorite sports team is the Frederick Keys in Frederick MD. They are a feeder tea for the Baltimore Orioles and have the most family-friendly little gem of a ball park and games packed with family activity, scout activities, kid contests – fun for everyone! One day at the game we noticed a comotion coming in – it was George HW Bush and his grandkids headed for a box seat!

Robin Galloway

My favorite sports team is the New York Yankees because I grew up outside NYC and remember my uncle who was an avid baseball watcher cheering them on at every televised game he saw!
