Since I sew mostly doll clothing, one of the most meaningful gifts I have sewn is a real fur vest and headband made from a grandmother’s fur jacket she had altered. I used every bit of the leftover scraps to make the vest and headband for her to give to her granddaughter.
The most meaningful gift I’ve ever made for someone was a dress for my mother. She gave so much of herself and ALWAYS sewed new clothes for me that I wanted to give her something special. She kept the dress for many years and I found it in her closet when she passed away. How I miss her!!
Most meaningful gift was a baptism gown i made for her grand baby from her wedding dress
I made smocking gowns for premie babies and doll clothes forSalavation Army doll for Christmas.
The most meaningful gift I ever made was a dress for my daughter. At the time I did not realize that it was a gift until later. My daughter was about 12 and she wanted me to make her one of my 1950"s dress patterns, but it was an adult size and she was 12 and thin. So I altered the pattern to fit her and can I say did it fit her. It was fun to make, we picked out the black and white gingham together. She was there every step of the dress making process. She loved the dress so much that she wore it all the time at least 3 times a week. This dress wearing went on like this for several years. I loved seeing her in this dress. She felt so beautiful and original in this dress. Every time she wore the dress people commented on it or how nice she looked. Over the years I saw how this little dress built her confidence in her self. I think that was the most meaningful thing I ever made.
