For most sewing projects, standard sewing supplies are used and easy to find. For a variety of doll clothes patterns the supply lists recommend doll scale supplies and notions. Over the years we've come across a few of our favorite places to find these items:
- Home Sew - Check out thier Cinnamon's Favorite Things collection! Find 5" and 6" separating zippers in both nylon coil and metal teeth styles, narrow hook and loop tape, tiny buttons, and buckles.
- Zipper That Doll - Find tiny separating zippers and closed end zippers
- Zip It - Find a variety of colors of invisible zippers
- Girl Charlee - great selection of ribbing and knits

I shop for tiny zippers at SAS, a local warehouse fabric store in Phoenix Arizona.
I shop for fabric for doll clothes at the donation pile first. I look through things my kids have outgrown first to see if they can be repurposed. Also, my moms old sewing supplies are a fun place e to look for hidden treasures. If I can’t find what I need then I go to stores like Joann’s or hobby lobby.
I am always on the lookout for doll supplies at fabric stores and Hobby Lobby. But I shop for most of my doll sewing accessories on Ebay and Amazon. My greatest find was the tiny velcoe you Pixiefarie’s sell.

I also Shop at Michael’s and Ebay for older print fabrics that are no longer printed, it is also where I find small print fabrics for making mini dolls for doll houses .
I look to upcycling from my ‘stash’. I have things from my grandmother and mother that I can use w/o any expenditures. Fun to pass it onto granddaughters. Again thank you for what you all do to keep American Girl a viable and treasured toy. Caro
