For most sewing projects, standard sewing supplies are used and easy to find. For a variety of doll clothes patterns the supply lists recommend doll scale supplies and notions. Over the years we've come across a few of our favorite places to find these items:

I find fabric at places like Joanne ‘s sometimes but I also look around the house for leggings or t-shirts that don’t fit anybody anymore and I can find some good, scaled patterns there.
I have the hardest time finding KNC jeans pattern here.
I shop for dresses and supplies all over online and in stores the hardest thint to fine is vintage prints.
Had the most trouble finding an ironing ham small enough for doll clothes. Was going to have to make one but I don’t have time. I want to sew doll clothes!! Finally got one at nancysnotions.com. They have many items I couldn’t find anywhere else – silk buttonhole thread and small embroidery stencils. Other great online sources are zipperthatdoll, homesew and my new favorite is crscraft. They have everything in miniature for dolls and I mean everything. I get that shipping costs a lot and being in Canada we also have to pay more because of the exchange rate. I can order online, pay freight and exchange and still pay less than at the fabric store. Just as an example, crscraft has packages of 30 – 1/4" doll buttons at $2.20 each. In Canada at my local fabric store and Michaels craft store a similar product is $8.98 unless you can get them on sale. That said, I have found some wonderful things in the remnant bin and the bargain section at the fabric store. The local dollar store is a great source for trim and shoe soles. They have cording, string, ribbon, cork board and lots of junk you can re-purpose for dolls. I’ll have to get to the thrift stores though. I have just about used up all my husband’s old clothes. LOL
