I’d love to see 40s and 50s era clothing patterns offered at Pixie Faire for 18 inch doll types. I have been collecting dolls since I was a young child when I had asked for a baby doll for Christmas but Santa Clause brought me a beautiful Sweet Sue in a gorgeous floral taffeta gown with a white rabbit fur cape (which I still have). I cried all Christmas because I WANTED a baby doll! Thereafter my mother took me to Toyland at the local department store the day after Thanksgiving to pick out the doll I wanted for a Christmas present from her each year and she would put it in layaway. That year my mother gave me a beautiful baby doll, complete with a wardrobe of clothes she had sewn for her. My mother taught me to sew when I was 8. I was the only girl in the classes at the dance studio who had a mother who sewed, so she was hired to make costumes for our recitals, and I was taught to help cut out the fabrics, sew the straight seams, and run the elastic through the waists and legs of the costumes. I went on to make my own clothing and was sewing from Vogue patterns by the time I was in the 7th grade of school. I was utilized as a substitute teacher for home ec classes when I was in high school and there was a shortage of teachers. I started my granddaughter with dolls when she was 2, and she played with her dolls even when she was in high school when she would come home from a stressful day at school. Now we are enjoying playing with some of these same dolls with my 3-1/2 year old great granddaughter, who absolutely loves dolls and has been taught how to enjoy them and also how to take good care of them. I have collected various dolls during my lifetime and have always enjoyed passing that love of dolls along to the generations of girls I come in contact with.
