My favorite tip is to press, press, and press you can never press enough.
My favorite sewing tip is to take your time and don’t get upset about small mistakes.
My favorite tip or trick is to cut out all pattern pieces and label them into a pile; ready to follow the directions or instructions.
I hate to cut stuff out, so I cut out a lot of doll clothes all at once and layer them in a shoebox with the instructions. Then when I want to sew, I can just pull them out and enjoy the fun part-sewing !
My favorite tip is to not be in too much of a rush that you can’t take time to iron in between key parts of your pattern. Ironing helps your project look crisp and clean:)
My tip is to fill enough bobbins to complete project so I dont have to stop & wind more
My tip is to fill enough bobbins to complete project so I dont have to stop & wind more
My favorite tip is to enjoy and learn from so many other’s tips and tricks. Thanks!
My favorite tip or trick is to pin the elastic at the beginning of the casing and the either use a safety pin to push through.
When asked for a dolly and me outfit, I ask my customer to buy two of the same outfits for her granddaughter – 1 for the granddaughter and 1 for me to cut up and make a similar outfit for the granddaughter’s doll.
Hold the thread ends tight when you are starting doll seams. It doesnt get caught under the presser foot and the seam starts smoothly!
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to use small applique pins when making doll clothes.
wound=would… Fingers got to going !! hahahahahah
My favorite sewing trick is to have several bobbins wound in the thread needed for that item. Then I cut out more than one outfit of different material and have the bobbins would for each color or try to match the colors as close as possible so I make several items of one color with no time lost. Example: Flowered with blue material for one dress, the next dress is of blue material, and the third dress is of yellow and blue. Makes it alot easier than stopping and starting to thread the bobbin,
My favorite sewing tip is to have an emergency stash of chocolate for those moments when you need a break while sewing.
My tip is never throw away your scrap fabrics or trims. You never know when you will need something small to finish that perfect garment!
My favorite sewing tip for doll clothing is to pink the curves, this is much easier than snipping to the seam and makes it less likely that I will cut too close to the seam. The pinked edges allow give in all the right places and a smoother finish.
My favorite sewing tip is to keep a small basket of hand sewing next to my tv chair, so I can finish my projects while relaxing and watching favorite programs.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is… my go to sewing machine has a thread spindle cap. I find this really helps my spool of thread to feed evenly as the spool stays in place and doesn’t creep upwards especially when sewing fast. When using another older machine that doesn’t have this feature, I place a large cork – that I’ve drilled a hole through to fit my thread spindle- on top of my spool- which provides that same function.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is measure twice or more so you only have to cut once.
My favorite tip or trick is…. take your time and the result will show it.
My favorite sewing tip is to have fun.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to check twice and cut once.
Have several projects ready at your sewing machine. Have everything you need for each project in a baskets.
My tip is don’t sew when your sleepy…. goodness me the mess one can make!
I make master templates of basic garments from those thin kitchen cutting mats that you can get at the dollar store. They hold up well for patterns that you use often.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to use chop sticks to turn corners and curves. they won’t go through fabrics and make a great addition to any sewing basket.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to overlock the edges. this makes everything look more pretty and professional.
My favorite sewing tip is not to be afraid to try something new!
Don’t skip the reading the instructions. It is very tempting to just jump into a new pattern without reading the instructions firs.
My favorite tip or sewing trick is to keep my pattern notions and fabric for the project together in a small bin If it’s a couple months before I can do the project the items don’t get lost or used for something else
My favorite tip or trick is to have a small piece of fabric to sew off on to. This is a quilting trick that allows you to easily hold on the treads as you start to sew, then when you are done sewing you run the small piece of fabric through again and you are ready for the next time you sew.
My favorite sewing tip is to backstitch a few stitches at the beginning and ending of each seam that I sew.
My favorite sewing tip is to backstitch a few stitches at the beginning and ending of each seam that I sew.
My favorite tip is to sew from the heart. My heart is for my granddaughter. We sew and craft together and I hope to instill in her the art of sewing. The best trick is to just study the instructions and resource the internet if you’re not sure.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is…when having to turn right sides out through a narrow shoulder for the doll clothes I was taught to place a safety pin at the corner end of the garment that you need to pass through the shoulder. Once the pin is through the narrow shoulder you grasp the pin and pull the rest of the garment through. Easy Peasy!
My sewing tip is to hand bast areas that are tricky or small. Pins get in the way or you are focused on taking them out as you come to them. Basting gives you a line to follow and you aren’t concentrating on something else.
My tip is to find a group of friends who love to sew doll clothes too. Fun to share ideas, projects, and show-n-tells.
My favorite tip is that noone is as picky about your project as you are. Most people wont even see the flaws that you do. You are the harshest critic there is. Enjoy your work.
…is to just go sew for only 5 minutes if that is all the time I think I have. I get more done iwith small increments of time than waiting for those big blocks of time that never come!
My favourite tip or trick is to read over the instructions and get yourself familiar with sewing the article.
My favorite sewing tip is YouTube is your best friend if you get stuck!
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to take your time. The finish product will look fantastic.
My favorite sewing trick is to play music while I sew, so I am relaxed.
My favorite sewing trick is… to be sure I am working in enough light. Sometimes I think that I am until I turn on a light closer to me…or open the window blind in front of me. Makes all the difference in what I see.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to sew for charity along side of what I am sewing for a doll. If I were to cut out and sew one dress at a time, it would take much longer than it is to sew a couple at a time! In the end I have learned a new pattern and have the dress I needed to make and a spare to give away. I like to dress AG’s and now Wellies, for girls who have little, such as on Indian Reservations.
My favorite tip is to press as you go. Pressing makes the outfit look more professional.
Your iron is your friend. Pressing as you sew makes handmade look professional.
My favorite tip or trick is using my granddaughter’s old clothes to make new clothes for her doll. She enjoys seeing her old clothes being made into something for her doll. It also gets her interested in learning to sew. 2 birds, 1 stone.
Sometimes you don’t quite feel like actually sewing, but you want to do something “dolly”. My tip is to take quart size zip lock bags and cut out patterns that you want to do. Take your pattern, cut out the fabric, and place all pieces into the zip lock bag, with a post it inside for the pattern the outfit is for. This way you can have several outfits cut out and ready to sew at a moments notice. It’s something that really works for me ;)
My favourite sewing trick is to notch curves. It makes them smooth. It really works.
My favorite tip. Do not be afraid to do some hand basting before you sew.A hand sewn hem looks ellegant on fine fabrics.
“My favorite sewing tip is always have your seam ripper close by.
My favorite tip is to always check your tension if your bobbin is being goofy. Its usually that.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to read the directions first and press seams as you go.
My favorite sewing tip is to use Elmer’s School Glue to attach zippers before basting. No need for pins.
My favorite sewing tip is take your time and if you get frustrated walk away and come back to it fresh and ready to do it.
My favorite sewing tip is prewash and iron your fabric when you bring it home from the fabric store; you will then be ready when inspiration hits!
My favorite sewing tip or trick is using one of your patterns and making it your own by whatever fabric and trims you use. Sometimes to create just the look I want I use a combination of patterns.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to cut out two items at the same time. Why make one at a time, cut out two dresses at a time by pinning two fabrics together.
My favorite tip is to cut the top thread at an angle. Then thread the needle.
My favorite sewing trick is…when you need elastic do not cut it from the yardage right away. Measure what you will need & mark the length. For a thread casing, just tack one end & sew your zig zag over the flat elastic. When you get to the end of the sleeve/waist/whatever pull the elastic thru to the mark, tack it down & then cut the elastic. No working with small awkward pieces of elastic
Best thing I like about pixie fair is even though I’ve been sewing for a very long time I always learn new things every time I read new articles. Thank you for teaching me every day a little bit more than what I knew.
My favorite sewing trick is using elastic to make even gathers.. Thin elastic is a wonderful thing, No basting threads to pull. No shifting gathers.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is sewing with me daughters. We have fun picking out patterns and fabrics and each sewing a little bit on a project.
My favorite tip or trick is. Take your time, and the finished product will look great.
My favorite seeing too was measuring your doll before you cut.
My favorite sewing tip or trick I learned in Sewing with Cinnamon – use a coffee filter under the beginning of your seam to keep the fabric from poking down inside the machine….i keep a pack of coffee filters in the sewing stuff now!!
take your time, don’t rush and follow the directions
Make clothes that make you smile. Gives you a warm feeling giving them to a special little girl
My favorite sewing trick or tip is…. I am still waiting to discover it 😪 but I am hopeful 😎
My favorite sewing tip or trick is measure twice, cut once.
I like to recycle older clothing into new items.
Be patient and don’t hesitate about changing your machine needle. A new needle can make all the difference in the world.
My favourite tip is to stick the needle packet to the side of the machine with blutak. That way i won’t forget what kind of needle is in the machine.
My favorite sewing trick is using Kam-snaps on many of the doll clothes where Velcro might have been used. I can’t help it—I love the things, especially the shapes.
I keep by my sewing machine a magnet wand to pick up straight pins that may have fallen on floor. Or if I was to spill my pin quick pick up.
Remove pins as I go so that I don’t miss any when the item is finished.
When cutting out atterns, I like cutting multiples out of different fabric and placing in a large baggy and then when I have extra time, I can grab one and sew it up, no cutting.
I don’t have a “favorite” tip or trick I have learned that Sewing larger i. e sewing from the tiny pieces to the larger pieces is the easiest way to assemble something.
Don’t have any particular tip, I just enjoy sewing dolls clothes.
Just relax and enjoy sewing your project.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to enjoy what you are creating.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to try to straighten my sewing area when I am done for the day. Put things away and keep projects organized with a container. So when I sit down the next day I am not distracted by a mess and don’t know where to start.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to press as you go!
My fav sewing trick is lining blouse/shirt front and back so I don’t need facings on doll clothes. Wish someone had told me that 50 years ago lol!
So many tips, a very crucial one for me is good lighting. Not just where my sewing machine is but also where I store my fabric. I’m far less productive when my lighting isn’t sufficient or is too yellow.
I have not been sewing for very long but my tip is to not doubt yourself and you just sew with your heart
I wanted a mini-wale cordaroy and could not find it in the fabric store so I looked for a skirt in local Goodwill. Found perfect piece.
Boy! I’ve learned a lot reading this list, and I’ve been sewing well over half a century. Be sure you make a lot of snips clipping curves on tiny dresses. I use surgical scissors (one blade is shorter than the other) and slip the blade between the seam allowance. This prevents accidentally cutting the thread itself -and having to resew it. Grrr. Also, cutting each side of the allowance separately you can alternate the snips, which helps make the seam stronger.
My tip is never try to sew when you are too tired. Strange things happen.
My favorite tips: (1) have really good lighting, especially near the sewing machine for the times I do have to rip out the threads, and (2) read thru the directions first a day or two prior to starting, and think about everything needed to complete the project, then I’m ready to start.
Try using old t-shirts for some of the doll clothes.
I use Wonder Tape to hold tricky areas together before sewing. Best thing they’ve ever made.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to take your time and enjoy creating…music helps too!
My favorite sewing tip is to take your time and press those seams
My all-time favorite tip or think that I have learned from pixie fair and it’s patterns is the use of heat tape or seam tape I absolutely love it it makes my sewing project so much faster and easier this is one remarkable group and I cherish every little bit of information that I get from everyone on it and from the people preparing the patterns love it thank you
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to iron seams as one goes along helps all get together better - so keep an iron next to the sewing machine.
Serge the cut ends of your yardage before prewashing to keep it from raveling and twisting!
