My favourite sewing tip or trick is making continuous bias binding. I found instructions on another website, but you should search craftsy dot com to make your own

My favorite sewing tip would be to read ALL instructions once or twice before beginning. Then keep them close by.
I find the tips given are so very helpful that I can’t pick out just one to say is my favorite. The patterns are easy to follow and the little girls faces light up when they receive the gifts for them to enjoy for a long time.
Sewing small items can be tough with aging eyes and less than perfect vision. As my near vision got worse I began to sew with contrasting thread or darker thread. It is so much easier to see than the matching thread I used. Contrasting thread makes it possible for me to keep sewing.
If not “chain-stitching”, begin and end each stitching line with a bit of waste fabric. This minimizes the length of waste thread and of bits of threads to pick up afterwards (most bittty ends end up attached to the reused “waste fabric”).
