I have the hardest time finding specialty fabrics for doll clothes in small cuts. I don’t always want a WOF cut of some pieces. I fortunately can often share with a friend who mostly sews clothes for herself an others.
I shop for doll fabric at reuse centres where I can sometimes find lightly used clothes with small prints that I can reuse and give the fabric new life in making doll clothes.

I had a hard time finding knits and prints in the correct weight and scale until I started shopping the children’s clothing at thrift stores. It really opened my eyes to a bunch of possibilities.

I have the hardest time finding small buttons and zippers on the spot. I usually order them online so over order for when I get the “need” to make something using these items. Our stores don’t seem to carry these supplies.
I shop for fabrics for my doll clothes at the thrift store. I buy lightly used clothing that may have a minor issue like a faulty zipper or be out of style but still has good material. It may make a full outfit or two, or could be paired with other fabrics I have.

I shop for fabric for doll clothes at thrift stores. Baby girl dresses are often lightly used, have appropriately sized small prints and have enough fabric to make doll clothes. Patterns can also be cut strategically to include embroidery or other embellishment on the dresses.

I shop for my doll buckles (look for children’s or ladies sandals with straps with 1/2" to 5/8" sized buckles – remove and reuse) at second hand stores. Purses provide leather for shoes plus small D-rings and buckles. Shop the children’s and infant section for small prints. You can find a large section of knits and cottons print size appropriate also. I go shopping on days they run specials – like stuff your bag full for $2.00. Happy hunting!
