I shop for most of my fabric at Joann’s fabric and crafts.
Tiny zippers are the worst for me to find. I’ve gotten to the point that I avoid patterns that use them.
I have the hardest time finding accessories, reasonably priced, in the same place. I ave usually need to go to either several web sites or stores.
I shop from my stash, but add fabric and notions from Joann’s. Friends know I like to make doll clothes and are always gifting me with speciality fabric scraps and notions they no longer want. Friends are great.

unique fabrics by buying clothing at salvation army or good will or in my friends closets!

I shop for fabric at Walmart but also at thrift stores.. I upcycle t shirt material and fancy dresses. I find most of my trims at the local Dollarama. I sew for the 18 i ch dolls.
I shop for my doll patterns at Pixie Faire as they are the best fitting patterns I have found. I have trouble finding small trim for the outfits I make.
I have the hardest time finding umbrella skeletons for American Girl Dolls. I would like to make umbrellas to match raincoats.

I shop for swimwear fabric at our locally owned fabric store…Mary Jo’s in Gastonia NC. Lately I have often ventured into upcycling clearance items as well. Infant clothing works well as the scale is perfect!

I shop for doll supplies at various locations, dollar store, walmart, fabricland and michaels. I have bought many quarter fabric bundles at michaels with 50% off coupons.

I shop for tiny snaps at Hobbie Lobby. I have a hard time finding fabrics with the small print that is suitable for doll clothes.
I shop for fabrics and trims from the overly large stash in my sewing room. I have been collecting trims for many years since I did costuming for high school, community, and college theatre. Specialty items such as shoe soles and zippers have come from Pixie Faire, although I have to admit that I have purchased some shoes for friends’ dolls via the internet. I believe it’s much more rewarding to make as many things as I can instead of purchasing them — and infinitely less expensive!

I do a lot of shopping at surplus and thrift stores. I love to think outside the box when it comes to fabric. I teach children in an after school program the ages are 5-12 and with no budget for fabric I tend to look at all things as useable fabric. I once bought a pack of 75 suede like large 16″×16″ cleaning towels for $1. Sometimes it’s a little more work but in the end it is worth it. Children’s close lend to small prints and small notions sometimes friends who have ripped or stained clothes from kids or grandkids will gift them to me to see if I can use anything before the item gets trashed.

For other items I’ve learned to get creative. When slide letter bracelets were popular I stocked up on I’s and O’s to use as faux belt buckles.

i have trouble in finding zippers for doll clothing, living in Belgium, there is nothing for the American Girl to buy even a doll i can not buy here.
I have the hardest time finding anything doll size as I live in a small town in northern Canada. Closest fabric store is 3hrs away. My favourite place to shop is in thrift stores. Go in with an open mind and sometimes you’ll find treasures that can be repurposed for doll clothes.

I have the hardest time finding reasonably priced hair brushes for AG dolls. I do a lot of charity sewing and like the dolls to have their own sleeping bag, fabric tote and all the clothes. But their hair gets so messy so I like to send a brush in with them. wish a sewing supplier would sell them!

I am adjusting both crochet and sewing patterns but some days I just want to make something and have it fit the first time.
i have been making been making ag doll clothes for 5 years i have learned to to cut zippers down to fit. i find fabric at Walmart and at yard sales. sometimes i find old clothes i love to make clothes out of odd material i would love the patterns
