I have the hardest time finding small notions for my outfits.

Faith Comeaux

I shop for fabric and notions in every city or town when I travel. This would include Joanns, Hobby Lobby or mostly all the wonderful quilt stores with their varied array of cotton batiks and reproduction fabrics.

“I shop for doll clothes items everywhere, you would be surprised where you find items to reuse in your own home" I have used leftover material I’ve had since my kids where little and I have found small items for the dolls in the $ stores for them to “play” with.

I have the hardest time finding 6 inch separating zippers in all the rainbow of colors for all of the jackets I want to make for the multitude of different size doll clothes.

Emmy

I fought valiantly to find zippers, both the kind that open at both ends, and the usual dress zipper. Then I got smart. I buy the shortest dress zipper I can find, and measure down to the desired length;with the zipper closed I zigzag over the teeth to make a new bottom-stop and cut it off..For the two-ended opening: I open the zipper, cut the teeth off at the top, and bind the remaining zipper-tape by hand, twisting away from the opening, and cut the extra off. For buckles I reuse the buckles from watch bands and sandals. If they are ugly, that is what glue guns and glitter are for!
