My favorite period of time is the 1890’s. I even made an 1890’s day dress about 40 years ago and entered it in the Florida State Fair and won a Grand Champion ribbon. My dad was born in 1891, so maybe that is what drew me to that time period.

My favorite period is the Tudor period, I love how elegant the dresses were and beautifully trimmed, in the English court, as well as the different headgear that was worn. It is so interesting on how they could change the look of their dress by changing their sleeves and wearing an English gable instead of a French hood. The jewelry was just as beautiful. It amazes me what had to be worn under their dresses to form the silhouette.

My favorite historical time period is the 1970’s. It was my discovery time, as I was in my teen years. I was sewing for myself because pants & long sleeves were never long enough in ready-to-wear. I wasn’t able to afford those ready-to-wear prices either. I received many compliments on my wildly patterned bell-bottoms & bright colored tops. Those skills allowed me to be very stylish in my college years also.
