Freebie Friday, (January 29, 2016) Help Us Decide

Hi everyone,

[Update: For the 1st time in Freebie Friday history we had a tie! So we decided to select the Bubble Skirt - we hope you enjoy it.]

On Friday (January 29th, 2016), we'll have one of the following patterns available for free from Cinnamon Miles. It's our gift to you. Vote now and then come back to Pixie Faire on Friday to download your free copy and while you're here be sure to pick a new pattern or two, get some fabric, or join a class.

More About Cinnamon and Liberty Jane Clothing: Cinnamon is the co-founder of Liberty Jane Clothing and Pixie Faire. She's also the co-founder of Sew Powerful, a charity focused on combating extreme poverty through sewing and tailoring programs. She strives to design on-trend clothing made to fit 18 inch dolls such as American Girl® and other doll types too. Help us decide which one of these fun patterns should be free by voting below.

More About Each Pattern:

The Bubble Skirt For 18 Inch Dolls: The Liberty Jane Bubble Skirt PDF Pattern can be made from either knit or woven fabric.  The waistband fabric should have some stretch. The skirt is designed to fit above the knees. Skill Level: Easy. What You Get: One 9 page sewing pattern that you digitally download as a PDF file so you can start your project immediately! The PDF sewing pattern provides full color step-by-step illustrated instructions and full size pattern pieces.

The Baseball Tee For 18 Inch Dolls: The Liberty Jane Classic Baseball T-shirt PDF Pattern will delight your 18 inch American Girl Doll! The raglan style sleeve is perfect for a beginner because it is a straight seam, not curved or sewn in a circle. Sewing a zig zag seam is an optional way to finish seams, but not necessary to make the t-shirt.

The Sorrento Top For 18 Inch Dolls: This popular top from the Liberty Jane Spring 2011 International Collection has been revised for 2014 to include the By The Boardwalk variation! We've added 8 pages of new instruction to include two complete variations. The 5 strand braid instructions with full color steps are included as well! The Sorrento Top is designed to fit an 18 inch American Girl ® Doll! This design is easy to sew and works with a variety of trims! Have a hard time finding trims? The braid variation can be made without any trims, simply use strips of scrap fabrics to create a unique look. Tips included for sewing with knit fabric which will help prevent stretching and produce evenly stitched hems! Suggested fabrics include: lightweight knit (rayon spandex), rayon, and silky blends

The V-Neck Tee For 18 Inch Dolls: A v-neck tee is a great addition to any doll’s wardrobe! Liberty Jane is excited to offer you this PDF sewing pattern to teach you how to do this “lapped v” technique. This is a perfect project for using upcycled t-shirts that you might have lying around. There are 11 pages of full color step by step instruction as well as 1 page of text only summary of  instructions to save on printer ink! These full color easy to follow instructions walk you through each step in completing your American Girl ® dolls new v neck shirt.

Take a look at each pattern:

We'd love to hear your opinion - which one of these fun patterns should be free? Leave a comment below with your opinion!

So glad to have found you again. Somehow your weekly voting page stopped coming to my email and I thought you had discontinued them. Have only gotten a couple of the freebies as I missed most I see but it is very generous of you to offer them in any case. Love the Victorian patterns as well and as they are different those tend to be what I purchase for my dolls and use the modern ones for granddaughters! Thanks again.

Didn’t vote this week as I have the patterns too—thanks to Cinnamon’s generosity over the last couple of years! Sometimes it took me a few tries to get some of them due to missing some the first time around. I’ve also purchased many more and they are all great—never had one not go together well.

There are simple to very detailed styles at varying prices for most all budgets. I’m a retired, fixed-income old lady and I can find a way to whittle out some pattern money! Skip the coffee shop, don’t buy the candy, save your coins in a jar, have everyone in the sewing group put in 50 cents or a dollar, eat out of the pantry for a couple of days—most everyone should be able to return the favor to Cinnamon by purchasing a pattern once in awhile instead of always expecting the company to give you a new one every week..

I’m sorry to say this—but I’m embarrassed by the manners of some of the commenters about why can’t we get some new ones, etc. etc. There ARE new ones some weeks—such as the very generous brand new historical pattern last week from Thimbles & Acorns (which Cinnamon also has something to do with getting it offered I’m sure) and several others, such as a jacket and a dress I can think of immediately, in not so long of a time ago. In between, there are always new people finding Pixie Faire and getting a chance to receive these basic and very useful patterns.

Please to those few complaining—think about it, like someone else on here said—what other doll pattern company gives free patterns every week, dolls, outfits and more? Plus does all the humanitarian work Cinnamon and her company does?

As my mother would have said—“Mind your manners and don’t forget your thank-yous!”

**Sorry to those who definitely don’t need this reminder—but not sorry to those who obviously do!

I have all the Friday freebies. I just love the patterns. Learned yesterday how to put a zipper in
the jean shorts. So fun. I am excited about the zipper line. I will be tackling the period dresses soon. I am 65 and have relearned the playing with dolls.

I am so surprised at the responses that complain about what is offered. Do you know of any other pattern company that offers you to vote on a pattern to receive free? These are not poorly fitting patterns either. I consider myself very blessed to have so many patterns.

All of these patterns have been offered several times in the past!! Need more variety. I belong to a local organization of ladies that provides an 18 inch doll and a complete hand made wardrobe for little girls who have been sexually abused. I really appreciate the free patterns for this project. However, I would enjoy and appreciate a wider variety of patterns. I have all of these!!!

I’m probably one of the few who has bought all of these patterns. I got myself into the huge project of filling a trunk for my granddaughter, who had just gotten her first AG doll. I mean what’s a new doll without clothes and a trunk?! (At least that’s what my mother raised me to believe.). Add the Bundled Jeans pattern to all the patterns listed above and you can make a huge variety of clothes! And I did! So, I consider these classics. My granddaughter was floored and wanted to try on all the variations that she could think of as she filled the trunk. From what I understand, she’s still mixing and matching. Whatever wins this Friday – Believe me, you will be able to make it a hundred ways. Happy sewing! Hope Cinnamon and crew are having a wonderful trip!

I’m voting for the baseball tee, but next week, I hope we get some fresh new options. Last week’s historical freebie was so refreshing for me. We need newer patterns for freebie friday, otherwise it gets a bit stale using the same basic patterns every week. But don’t get me wrong, I think it’s very generous to offer a free pattern every week.
Also, bring back mod doll Monday!!!!:( :( :(
