Free Doll Clothes Pattern (September 14th, 2018) Help Us Decide!

Hi everyone,

On Friday (September 14th) we'll have a free pattern available from Helen Kropocheva, the talented designer of the Doll Joy pattern brand. Help us decide which pattern should be free and be sure to come back on Friday to download your free copy!

More About Helen In Her Own Words: "When I was a child, my family didn't really need to ask what gift I wanted. There was one answer: "A doll."  I grew up but I still have so much love in my heart for dolls.
Both of my grannies loved sewing. I began to sew at the age of eight by hand for my baby dolls. My mother taught me to knit. When I turned fifteen I started to sew and knit clothes for myself.
Designing for dolls started for me when my daughter went to school. I was looking for something to do, and my search led to discovering a whole world of dolls and doll fashion.
Now I'm glad to be a part of the Pixie Faire team and engage in my favourite hobbies!"

More About Each Pattern

Flutter Sleeve Top Designed to Fit 19" Gotz® Dolls:   Sew this top for your doll, and she will flutter like a butterfly!  You can finish the flutter sleeves edges with a rolled hem or leave raw edge finishes as shown in the photo.
The top can be sewn from one fabric or you can select another fabric companion for the flutter sleeves to your liking.

Pajama Top Designed to Fit 19" Gotz® Dolls:   Do you like to sew? I'm sure you have tons of fabric scraps. Making this top will help reduce your supplies! For this Pajama top you'll need printed knit fabric, and different solid-colored fabrics for the bottom panel and pocket. The fabric choice will determine what you`ll sew: a pajama top or cute long-sleeve top, for a girl or boy.  I chose a cute fabric for pajamas, because my favorite doll likes to hide a candy in her pocket when she goes to bed! If your doll also likes secrets, be sure to sew such pajama top for her.

Tunic and Leggings Designed To Fit 19 Inch Gotz® Dolls:  Do you like to combine fabrics? I really love it! This two-piece set does not limit your imagination in the choice of fabric colors. Round Yoke Neckline, Two-tier Ruffled Sleeves and Hem, leggings - every detail can be made with its own color. It is very exciting to look for interesting combinations of colorful fabrics. And it`s an excellent opportunity to use the leftover fabrics from past projects.

Flutter Sleeve Top Designed To Fit 18" Dolls Such As American Girl®:  Sew this top for your doll, and she will flutter like a butterfly!  You can finish the flutter sleeve edges with a rolled hem or leave raw edge finishes as in the photo. The top can be sewn from one fabric or you can select another fabric companion for the flutter sleeves to your liking.

I will vote for the DOLL JOY today for the tunic and leggings set.

Helen thank you for sharing the pattern. I voted for the 19" Gotz tunic & leggings as I thought it would be nice for those dolls to get a free pattern. So glad it won! I only have 18" dolls, well doll actually and even if I don’t adapt it to fit I get a change to check your draft and sewing directions. That rain jacket pattern is mighty tempting!

But I don’t have a 19 inch size Gotz Doll. I wonder how I can adjust to fit 18 inch Our Generation dolls.

Beverly, this may seem strange but the difference between the Gotz and AG dolls I have is the behind. My Gotz doll has a bigger behind. I don’t have a problem with pants though. Most patterns I’ve used aren’t super snug fitting so they still work. Of course, the dolls all seem to be different.

I voted for the Flutter Sleeve Top for the 18" doll as I only have Maplelea dolls, they are similar to AG. Although it’s nice to offer other sized doll patterns, putting an 18" with it almost defeats the purpose as most people have the 18" ones and that always seems to be picked, leaving the ones with other sized dolls without free patterns. I would not object to having others the opportunity to acquire some free patterns too. (just not every week:-))
