I would love to work through the book with my seven year old son – he is soooo interested in sewing!
i love to sew because it is a way to escape and relieve the stress of high school
Although I am far from an accomplished sewist I love the feeling I get when giving my grandnieces and friends things I have made especially for them. I recently bought one of the grandnieces an American Girl doll with the promise I would make the doll clothes. The look of excitement and expectation on her face when I delivered the summer wardrobe was a reward beyond description. Now I have to get started on the winter wardrobe!
Since I am short and overweight, I have found that I can make clothes to fit instead of having to alter what I buy. Lets me use the clothes and fabrics I like instead of just taking what is on the rack.
I love sewing because it allows me to make unique one of a kind gifts with special significance for friends and family. I just made the American Doll drawstring dress using my calico fabric with threads I inherited from my grandmother. Now my daughter has something from me but it is also a memory of a great grandmother who is more than a memory now because my daughter can hold a sewn dress that gives her a tangible link to the past.
