2021 Updates - What's To Come This Year!

Hi Everyone!

This week we wrap up 2020 and move on to 2021 - Can you believe it? It's the 5th Tuesday of the month (which means no new content posted) which is the perfect opportunity to share with you our plans for 2021.

This is a general calendar of the topics we have planned. Shari, Donna, and I have been brainstorming ideas and have plotted out a full year's schedule. We may move things around depending on schedules and content creation, but for the most part, this is what we have planned for the coming year - yay!

  • January - Doll Clothes Storage: Hanging, Container, Babydoll Storage Bag Sew along (new LJ pattern), and more...
  • February - Themed Wardrobe Valentines: (Heart designs, Applique and Decorative Stitches)
  • March - Sewing Raglan Sleeves (New DKinley Pattern/Sew Along)
  • April - Smocking (tentative)
  • May - Themed Wardrobe "A Fairy Tale Wedding", The Gown, The Prince, The Finishing Details, Tambor Embroidery
  • June - Sewing With Stripes
  • July - Miniature Millinery Summer Hats
  • August - Themed Wardrobe - Summer Camp
  • September - Sew Along New LJ Pattern Bubble Raincoat (sewing with ripstop, oilcloth, etc.)
  • October - Machine Embroidery basics (tentative)
  • November - Themed Wardrobe "Tiny Gifts", sewing the smaller items (dolls for dolls, tiny purses or bags. Making gifts for dolls to open, etc.
  • December -  (Undecided)

We hope this gives you something to look forward to and plan around! If you really want to see us focus on something not mentioned above, feel free to leave some suggestions in the comments below. We may be able to work things in here and there as we fill out each monthly topic!

Thanks, everyone! This community is amazing because of all the amazing people like you that are here!

I am so excited! What a fun schedule. I am also very excited about the embroidery class. I have had an embroidery machine for over a year but have not yet used it. An I’m excited to learn about appliqué and smocking, and summer camp, etc. I love this group!! I would love to see the “summer” classes (camp and hats) moved to an earlier month (maybe June & July), so we have time to make the summer items during the summer (maybe do the stripes in August), but however you decide is great. :)

I used to do a lot of smocking for children and dolls. I did bishop dresses and detachable collars. I even have a pleater. But I haven’t done this in quite a while so this will be a good refresher course.

The first week theme-Winter; 2nd wk- Spring 3rd wk- Summer, 4th wk- Fall 5th wk- accessories (hats, purses, bags, etc).

I would also learn to smock…my mother smocked me dresses when I was young and I always wanted to learn but she passed away before we got around to it. I hope it happens too!

Smocking! so delightful. A few minutes ago I was looking at some sewing patterns for 18" dolls elsewhere and thought “How awful, what a waste of time and fabric.” Now I’m imagining beautiful “scale” smocking and hoping there will be such real projects in 2021.

I am excited for the new year and the wonderful things that we will be working on. I ususally make 4 of what ever we are working on because I have friends daughters that have dolls so if I am doing 1 I might as well be doing 4.
