Sewing For Back To School Part 2

Hi Everyone! I hope you enjoyed last weeks tutorial and have been busy with your backpack making projects. If you missed that video lesson, be sure to jump back and check it out. No matter what grade you're in, a new backpack to express your personality is a great way to start the year! As we move onto Part 2, Shari is here to bring in some vintage flair to a few Keepers Dolly Duds designs.

So let's follow along as Shari takes us back to explore a bit of vintage back to school fashion. Here's more from Shari...

Before Cinnamon went out of town, she sent me a box full of our new Tilda fabric kits to try out, so I am going to start this tutorial off by showing you the project I am working on using the Creating Memories Collection #3 fabrics. There are three fabrics in this collection and after a bit of poking around through my patterns, the first one that stood out for me to use was Keepers 1914 Pleated Frock. I really like the contrast of the pink stripe for the skirting, sleeve cuffs, collar, and shoulder overlay and the golden floral for the bodice, sleeves, and skirt overlay.

For the third fabric in this Tilda kit, I decided to make Keepers Fifties Flare dress. Partly because, with a little creative piecing, the pattern fit the cut of fabric, but also because the pretty little bow on the collar was just the thing for the topic I wanted to focus on in this tutorial... fabric bows!

I spent a little time looking through Keepers design collection when I was trying to
decide what I wanted to make for this project and I noticed that Eve, the designer for Keepers, used a wide range of lovely bows in her designs. These bows add so much to the appeal of her work, I thought this might be a fun topic for us.

In this tutorial, I am going to show you 5 different styles of fabric bows that I hope will inspire you and in the end, I'll pick two of them to use on my dresses. Follow along in the video below to see how to make these bows with ease! Be sure to download the Bow Templates from the SWC Bonuses section as well.

It is surprising how much a simple thing like a bow can add to the personality of a
garment. Keep in mind, the bows in this tutorial are meant to get your creative juices flowing. Take some time to experiment by cutting your bows on grain and off grain, or using different shapes, sizes, and combinations. I hope you are inspired you to make your own unique versions of bows to give your outfits a very personal finishing touch! See you next time!

So much information in just 13 minutes. I’m going to make all five to keep on hand as test samples. Loved them all!
Thank you.

This looks so fun, I love the prints. I am logged in but when I click on the bow link it does not take me to a valid page. I do not see the bows in the bonus section. Am I missing something? Thanks so much for your help.
