Sun Bathing Cutie 18" Doll Clothes

46   |

The Sun Bathing Cutie One-Piece bathing suit is a miniature replica of a bathing suit worn in the 70's. The 70's original was a funky pink cotton print with a gathered bodice and flouncy ruffled skirt. This doll sized version works well in a cotton or cotton blend woven fabric. The bodice is lined, has a flirty ruffled skirt, and closes in the back with hook and loop. The two-piece version has the same ruffled bottoms with a cute bikini top. The two-piece top is reversible, giving you more options for variation. The PDF pattern also includes instructions to make a bonus wide brimmed sun hat made with burlap.

I absolutely love this pattern ! I have had so much fun creating these gorgeous little suits. The pattern is so easy, and fits multiple sized 18 inch dolls.

Sun Bathing Cuties

I love this pattern. The suit was easy to make, and the directions were easy to follow. I made 3 of the two piece suits and they all turned out great.

Sun Bathing beauty

Directions were very easy to follow. Using the cotton material was so much better than the nylon I used on other bathing suit patterns.

Adorable pattern

I have the older American Girl doll, the one made by the Pleasant Company. I made the one piece suit and it was tight around the bodice so I added about one inch to a placket before stitching on the hook and loop. I used a colorful print of purple and yellow pansies. I'll make it again using a daintier print and raise the bodice using shorter straps. Even with a few changes, it is a totally sweet pattern and comes out very cute.
