1776 Riding Habit Underpinnings 18" Dolls Clothes Pattern
The 1776 Riding Habit Underpinnings are designed to be worn underneath the 1776 Riding Habit, but are suitable to be used with other outfits from this era.
The short sleeve shift provides the necessary covering while reducing bulk at the arms. It features a drawstring neckline and can be made with either true gussets or faux gussets. Stays are not included with this pattern, but it is recommended that the stays from the 18th Century Underpinnings be worn over the shift.
The petticoat ties at the waist with the historical front and back waistbands and is finished with a wide ruffle at the bottom for added fullness and warmth.
The scalloped hip pad ties on at the waist to add the fullness at the hips needed to achieve the fashionable 18th century silhouette more comfortably than panniers.
The shirt is the only piece of the ensemble that is visible when worn under the Riding Habit. It has loosely fitted sleeves finished with ruffle edged cuff that secures with button loops. The back bodice is gathered into a tie that ties in the front to secure the wrap-front of the bodice.
A simple cravat ties around the collar of the shirt for proper dress.
