I love this pattern. There are a lot of steps, but the end result creates a perfect little 1930s or '40s play dress or school dress for either Kit or Molly. It's versatile, and there are a lot design choices, so you can make contemporary dresses, too. You could use this pattern to make dozens of different styles with varying materials and embellishments. I've made two so far. I like to sew them by hand -- I am not skilled enough to control my sewing machine for little things like doll clothes. These took me a few days because of all the details, but I find the result to be worth it.
This dress can be vintage or contemporary, depending upon the fabric and detailing. It's perfect for all skill levels, the directions are methodical, and the pattern fits! If you prefer a professional finish, you can easily tuck under the lining and hand stitch. There is enough ease in the back to use snaps instead of Velcro. For one dress, I modified the waistband, adding side seams (with additional seam allowances) in order to insert a grosgrain ribbon for the sash. Up Next: A sleeveless version with the bodice attached directly to the skirt (no waistband). Appreciation to the designer - thanks for a versatile design.
Super cute dress with clear, easy to follow instructions!
Sweet innocent little dress. True to the 30s era. Detailed but well worth the little bit of extra effort. Instructions are clear.
