A Piece of History Dress 18" Doll Clothes Pattern

1   |

Take a quick jaunt through history as you create these TEN historically inspired dresses. Only one pattern piece and about an hour of time for each one! The drawstring or elasticized neckline, waistline, and sleeves make it almost as easy to make the dress as to dress your doll. The two layered design creates hundreds of design possibilities simply by changing the placement of the waistline and hemlines of the dress and sleeves.

This PDF sewing pattern is designed to fit 18" dolls such as American Girl® and Other Similarly Sized Dolls.

Thimbles' "A Piece of History" Dress Collection

It's not a "piece of history". It's many pieces of history. I made the Greek "Chiton" dress. Such a unique construction method. For such a simple pattern, I was amazed at all the possibilities. I was equally amazed that the outfit I made looked like I had spent a day making it. But no, it took under two hours, including cutting, built-in machine edging, and construction. I made mine with elastic in the casings which makes it an easy-to-dress option. For Christmas, I am thinking of making a long gown, with long sleeves and the empire waist and make "Clara's Nutcracker Nightgown." What's your design idea?
