Back To Africa SLIM 18-19" Doll Clothes Knitting Pattern

Create your doll a lovely animal print summer dress with matching headband. The leopard motif will makes her dream that she is going on a safari somewhere in Africa.
CONSTRUCTION OF THE DRESSES:
The dresses are designed to fit 18'' - 19'' slim dolls such as Gotz Hannah® and Journey Girls®.
Both dresses knitted flat from hem upwards with a back seam until the bodice, then knitted across the stitches of both sides of the back so that the back will continue as one piece. Both written instructions and chart provided for the leopard motif rows. The leopard pattern is knitted over 24 sts and a 12 rows repeat. I have added an eyelet row with I - Cord band so that it does not have a baggy look. Included are instructions for knitting panties for the Journey Girls® and Gotz Hannah®.
The dress is a perfect fit for other dolls such as Gotz Happy Kidz®, 18'' PetitCollin®Sylvia Natterer Starlette™ dolls. Optional I have included suggestions how to lengthen the dress by adding a few extra rows for 20'' dolls such as Maru and Friends®.

Back to Africa for slim 18" dolls

I test knitted this dress for Marinda Creations. Just like the other patterns I Knitted from this designer, this pattern too was fun to knit, had a great fit and a very pleasing finished outfit. The pattern is clearly written with colored charts for the stranded section. There is a lot of detail with photos to guide along the steps. Even checkboxes by row are included to insure the row count. It certainly is not a boring knit because of the variety of stitches used, such as garter, stranded and stockinette, as well as the excellent shaping of the neckline. The accessories included are a cute headband, also with excellent instructions and the panties. These are my favorite panties to knit because of the simplicity and great fit. I will knit this dress again, it is so versatile because the stranded section can easily be replaced with seasonal or favorite motives.

Back to Africa for 18" slim Dolls

This was a test knit for Marinda Creations. Just like her other patterns that I knitted, this too was a creative design, enjoyable to knit and resulted in a great fitting outfit. The pattern is very clear, easy to follow and detailed with lots of pictures to guide along. I especially liked the boxes to check off the knitted rows. The pattern includes the written instructions for the stranded section as well as a colored chart, that prints out well in black and white also. The stitches used, such as garter, fair isle and stockinette, were easy, but not boring. I also want to credit the accessories. The panties are a wonderful design and so simple to knit, they are my go to pattern. The pattern for the headband is also described in detail and easy to complete. The dress pattern would also be cute with other seasonal or favorite stranded motives. I used standard sockyarn and the recommended needle sizes. I am very pleased with this pattern and can honestly recommend it.

I was a tester for this pattern. Didn't it turn out cute? You could use any combination of colors to make this fun leopard pattern. The color changes were close enough that you didn't have to carry the floats, making it easy enough for an advanced beginner. I appreciated the colored charts and detailed written instructions. There are plenty of pictures to follow, also. This pattern fit my Gotz Happy Kidz, Gotz Hannah and Journey dolls.

As a tester for this pattern, I can recommend this very stylish three piece pattern for all your slim 18" dolls. I tried it on all my dolls and found it fits my Journey Girl dolls really well and also my Florrie doll. The graph for the leopard pattern was very clear and easy to follow. I made it in bright colours as I think they look fabulous on both light and dark skinned dolls. The panties and head band were a lovely addition to this pattern. Here is a picture of a darker skinned doll wearing this outfit and a picture of Flora (my Florrie doll).
