Circle Skirt Overalls Pattern for Kidz N Cats and 19" Gotz Dolls

3 reviews   |

One of my favorite childhood memories was playing “dress up” with the full-circle petticoat that my mother used to pouf the skirt of her ballerina-style wedding dress. It was a wonderful fantasy of crunchy net, organza, lace, and tulle, and it fell all the way to my ankles—except when I’d twirl around in it, which would make it stand straight out!

This Forever 18 Inches pattern is a nod to those fun moments and a tribute to my mother, who I suspect kept the increasingly shabby petticoat far beyond its natural lifespan for my sake. I hope you enjoy creating your own interpretation, and perhaps giving another little girl the same sense of fun and fantasy play that I had

The Option 1 Skirt Overalls feature a full circle skirt, lined bib, straps, a waistband that attaches with snaps in the back, and an optional front pocket. The Option 2 Bonus Variation is identical to Option 1, except that it has a gathered dirndl-style skirt instead of a full circle skirt.

This PDF sewing pattern is designed to fit Kidz N Cats dolls and 19" Gotz Hannah and Happy Kidz dolls. It is also available for 14.5" dolls such as WellieWishers.

Recommended Fabrics:  Medium-weight woven fabric with a bit of drape (quilter’s cotton fabric is ideal for this application). Natural fibers usually hang more attractively than synthetic ones. Examples are light-weight denim, chambray, poplin, or corduroy. Very stiff or coarsely woven fabrics aren’t appropriate for this skirt.

Supplies Needed:
Option 1 Circle Overalls:
1. 1/4 yd. of 45" wide fabric such as medium-weight quilter's cotton (or other similar fabrics) with a bit of drape
2. Four ¼" buttons
3. Three medium-sized snaps
4. Matching thread
5. Small, very sharp scissors
6. Fray Check
7. Scrap of fabric for the Bib Lining
8. Optional: Scrap of lightweight iron-on interfacing for the Bib

Option 2 Gathered Skirt:
1. 1/2 yd. of 45" wide medium-weight quilter's cotton (or other similar fabric)
with a bit of drape
2. Matching thread
3. Small, very sharp scissors
4. Optional: ¼" graph paper to create the skirt pattern piece
5. Three medium-sized snaps
6. Fray Check
7. Scrap of fabric for the Bib Lining
8. Optional: Scrap of lightweight iron-on interfacing for the Bib

Fun and easy to make

The pattern is quick and easy to make and fits my K&C dolls perfectly. What more can I say? Oh, I know - make sure that you find the right buttons before you start - choosing the buttons took longer than making the skirt!
