    Fun

I enjoyed making this. The pattern and directions are well done. I'm a very experienced seamstress and had no problems. I did change it up a bit because I was going for an Australian Outback sort of look. I used thicker brown felt purchased in the craft section (it took 2, 9"x12" sheets) and did view one. Because I used felt I didn't line the cap. I did trim the seams close to the top stitching to get a smooth finish inside and I only used one piece for the brim leaving it the full width of the pattern so it would be wider. I covered the brim seam with a ribbon band as the directions called for but did a flat seam to join the brim at the center back. I finished it off with a braid I made from 8.2 m leather cording. Looking forward to making another one in a more traditional fedora style. My granddaughter wants me to make some more outback hats for the girl dolls first. She's into the AG Kira stories and playing animal rescue right now.

    Adorable!!

This hat is the cutest thing ever. I have no experience at all making hats, and there were some techniques used that were unfamiliar, but they were very well explained in the instructions. Definitely a unique addition to my pattern stash!
