Just made the Dolly Diaper Bag for my granddaughters’ “babies”. I had some light weight vinyl coated fabric that I utilized for the body. It worked up a real treat! The pockets and linings were light weight quilting cotton in coordinating patterns. The vinyl gave the bag structure and strength, and is wipe-clean, a real plus. Hints: I used spray adhesive to join the batting and bag body. For construction I used a ball point machine needle and a Teflon foot, I didn’t need to use a walking foot, with careful sewing, the right needle and foot was all I needed. I have personalized “made by grandma” type labels too, a nice touch! These bags really are adorable!, and took only about an hour to work up.
It turned out so cute, great way to use some of your stash. It went together like a charm, great purchase for sure. My great niece is getting that filled with “baby” items for her Bitty baby.
I had no trouble with the instructions. I used the written instructions and spot-checked my work with the photo instructions. I used Peltex 2 double-sided fusible foam for the sides and bottom. It gave the bag nice body and it holds itself up and ready for the rest the layette I'm making to put in it. All the pieces fit together as advertised and the bag turned out really cute.
