This dress and blouse ensemble is inspired by a design from the 1950’s, but can still be worn today for a fresh new look. The sleeveless dress has a full skirt that can be gathered or softly pleated at the waist. The bodice has a square neckline and is accented with trim made from a contrasting fabric. The dress can be transformed by adding the blouse which features short straight sleeves with a “V” cutout at the hem and a classic pointed peter pan collar. The bottom of the bodice has the same “V” cutouts accented with small bows and it buttons down the back. Add a wink and a nod and this wardrobe is sure to transform your doll into a “Fifties Flirt.”

I love this pattern. I have only done the gathered skirt yet but found it went together easily. I'm strictly a middling sewer with the most basic type sewing machine and no serger but I had no trouble with this at all. This is a pattern I will definitely use again. The instructions on how to apply the trim was great and will use this method for other dresses. All together a great sewing experience. Please note I have made this for a Gotz Hannah doll who is slightly slimmer and taller than most 18inch dolls.
I got frustrated with the skirt and stopped and put it aside and went to another pattern for a V day dress. Why - I haven't figured it out yet. Will go back and redo to find out. I am a pretty good and experienced sewer. So far not crazy about the pattern.
This pattern comes with clearly written directions and great pictures to help you make this adorable outfit. Not once, while sewing, did I try on any part to see if it fits before I completed the dress and blouse ensemble. Put it on my doll and it was a perfect fit! You will not be disappointed with the results.
