Real horses need a lot of care. They wear special coats called Blankets and Leg Wraps to protect and warm their delicate legs. This pattern by Dollhouse Designs will create realistic looking (and great fitting) horsey apparel for your 20" Adult & 13" Foal (Baby) toy horses made by: American Girl®, Our Generation® and My Life®.
These sew up quickly in lightweight denim, cottons, wool, flannel, or other types of woven fabrics. Equines are also known to love dressing up occasionally in special finery, so lace, jewels, and silk flowers may be added to a young heart’s content.
This PDF sewing pattern includes accessories in 5 sizes to fit 3 major brands of toy horses (American Girl® - Our Generation® & My Life®). The leg wraps are shaped specifically for front and back legs. The blankets feature a strap closure underneath the horse's belly. There are a variety of ways shown to make your creation unique.

Reasonable price, excellent directions, but...39 pages! YIKES! I have to admit that although I think Pixie Faire has some lovely patterns, the amount of paper and ink needed to print one is over the top! In this case, the pattern included pieces for both 18" and 13" horses. (It only states 18" horse in the title and that is the size I needed) I actually found the basic horse blanket pattern for free, 2 pages to print, but I needed a pattern for the foal, so I took a deep breathe ((I've bought from them before) and went with Pixie Faire. There is a lot of information I won't use besides the 13" pattern. How to do this variation and that variation, etc. I appreciate the fact that they are so detailed for a beginner, but perhaps they can offer an option for advanced sewers. As I said, the patterns are great, but I have created some clothes by just getting ideas from the pictures and a basic pattern of my own. They have a wonderful staff if you have questions!
Never thought I'd need this pattern, but found a charity request slip for an Our Generation horse for Christmas. And even s horse needs clothes! The pattern was super easy and made a practical garment with finished seams. I used prequilted Christmas-y fabric for a winter blanket, and Daisy cotton for summer. I didn't have time to make the leg warmers. The pattern makers did a good job.
easy to follow pattern, i decided to make the blankets reversible. the pattern was easy to adjust for my what i needed.
