Flower Child Maxi Dress 18" Doll Clothes

4 reviews   |

The Flower Child Maxi Dress, by Flossie Potter, represents the casually comfortable lifestyle that was so much a part of the early 1970s.  A dress of this type was worn in any season by young girls to thirty-somethings.

The dress is floor length with a full skirt that tapers from many long darts.  It has a square neckline and bell sleeves.  It can be made in one color or up to four colors and prints, so typical of the period.  You can even substitute open lace trim for one of the color blocks for a peasant style.

This PDF sewing pattern shows you how to create your own Maxi Dress with detailed instructions and full-color assembly photos.  It includes printable summary instructions (to save on printer ink!) and full-size pattern pieces.

Flower power

A simple straightforward pattern with great results. I loved mixing up lots of fabrics and adding braid for a hippie look. I've bought fabric and lace to try the lace inset option as well.

Retro fun!

What a great pattern. Easy to sew and good directions. I had fun mixing and matching the prints and adding trim. It can look Boho chic or very retro depending on your fabric choice. Looks especially good in tie dye fabrics.

Flower Child dress

This dress was very easy to make and it uses a lot of leftover fabric. As always the directions are well written with pictures. Loved the results!
