First time making anything for a 14.5 doll- the pattern went together easily, even though I uses an upcycled knit nightgown. Can't wait to try it with cotton-
This pattern is so great in the 18" that I bought it in the 14.5"! This pattern, like the larger size, is very easy to put together. I would say a beginner could handle this. It has a few techniques a beginner could try, like gathering and making binding. Both are clearly explained in the directions. This pattern can be made with large scraps. The pattern does recommend light weight cotton, I just happened to have a lightweight flannel on hand, so I used that for the body. It worked, but I would recommend starting with a lightweight cotton first, as binding over the flannel can be tricky. The only thing that would improve this pattern is to have optional snap placement. I like using snaps as I find hook and loop (velcro) tend to find other things to stick to (like dolls hair, clothing, other velcro, etc). This pattern is so satisfying the short time it takes to cut and construct, almost instant gratification!
Great easy to use
