The big day has finally arrived and Malibu Libby is ready to make her red carpet appearance! She is confident she will look spectacular in her designer dress adorned with beaded trim at the shoulders and down the side seams for that extra special touch. The mermaid silhouette shows off her beautiful shape and makes just enough of a statement. She’s sure to make the best-dressed list with this gown!
We made this fully lined dress using a lovely silk shantung that holds the flounce nicely. Other suggested fabrics include: Silk dupioni, poly blend Shantung types, taffeta, and satin. A slick lining, like rayon, is also suggested. We used a 1/4” beaded lace trim for the straps and a 1” wide beaded lace trim to embellish the sides. If your trims are not beaded and you would like to add that extra sparkle, try beading the trim yourself. Have fun making your one-of-a-kind designer gown!

I worried this would be tricky but came together easier and the results are great. Very classy, sophisticated. Made the first one then again in white lace and satin. Added an extra 2" addition to netting on the white one to really make the bottom stick out. I have learned to trust all you wonderful doll pattern designers. Just follow the directions because you how to put it to together. hope my photos attach this time
Oh, Liberty Jane.. how do you do it??? I do not consider myself an experienced sewer but whenever I get your patterns, they always turn out the way I expected. There is something about the way you write the directions (and take the pictures); that I understand and am able to complete on my own. I now prefer Liberty Jane patterns since they are laid out in a way I understand. Thank you so much for your hard work in creating the patterns. I used this pattern to make a wedding dress for my daughter's doll and she could not be more thrilled!! Thank you for such clear directions.
Overall experience was very good. It fit the Isaac Mizrahi Madam Alexander doll very well. I left off the straps, and the strapless version stayed up quite well. Dress was made of medium weight satin with a polyester and netting lining. I added a 4" lace ruffle to the hem. My Salvation Army Toy Shop Auxiliary Auction Doll, Fifi, is wearing this dress to the auction. She has 10 other outfits, all made using Pixie Fair patterns. If I can figure out how to do it, will send a photo.
