Highland Socks 18" Doll Clothes Pattern

This pattern is just for the Highland Socks, by Genniewren Designs. Other patterns in the Highland Dress and Highland Dance Series are available to enable you to make a complete Highland dress or Highland dance outfit for your doll. Complete the look with the Girls Highland Jacket and VestHighland Dance BlousePrince Charlie Jacket and VestHighland Dress ShirtHighland AccessoriesHighland Kilt, and Highland Ghillies, available separately, as well as in bundled packages (see listing image for purchasing options available).

Argyle Highland socks are the traditional leg wear for Highland Dance or for Highland Dress.

This pattern allows you to make Highland Dance or Highland dress socks that are styled just like the real thing – with a rolled cuff and center back seam.

Highland Dance regulations state that beginners may wear plain white socks, but that all other dancers should wear Argyle socks that are either “diced” or traditional plaid.

It is almost impossible to get hold of diced Argyle fabric in a suitable size for doll’s clothes, but this pattern contains an ingenious solution – printable sheets that you can use with inkjet transfer paper. Then you can iron your chosen colorway onto light colored teeshirt knit fabric to make socks that are the perfect design and scale for official Highland Dance uniform.

Alternatively, if you don’t have an inkjet printer or cannot get hold of transfer paper for your printer, then you can use the colored sock designs to trace the Argyle pattern onto white teeshirt fabric and use fabric markers to color in the design to match your chosen plaid.

The pattern contains 20 different plaid and dice patterns for you to print or trace.

Once you have the design on your fabric and have set the color pattern, then you use the pattern piece to cut out and sew the socks. Instructions are included for adding the plaid flashes for male Highland Dress.

This pattern is also available in a bundled package with the Highland Kilt and the Ghillies patterns at a bundled discounted price.

    Highland Socks

Must have socks to go with your Highland outfit. And these were easy to make, and well fitting. But don’t just think of these as only suitable for Highland wear. Change the length and you’ll be making short socks and over-the-knee socks, too. It’s a great shaped sock pattern, not just a tube. I made the boy’s socks with the flashes (the little ribbons). But the pattern also gives you printable transfers if you want to make a pair of argyle socks to go with your girl’s kilt. This pattern was part of the complete series of Highland patterns from Genniewren Designs.
