Highlands Holiday Accessory Set 18" Doll Clothes Pattern

1 review   |

Don’t you just love the Scottish terrier? His friendly but confident demeanor, his spirited personality, and his doubly charming coat, make him a most popular breed. Add to that his Scottish Highlands heritage, and you must agree that he is the perfect accessory for the Highlands Holiday purse! As far as headgear, most people are familiar with a Scottish tam, or beret. But the traditional bonnet worn by all the Queen’s staff at Holyrood house is the Glengarry, a sturdy wool cap, often trimmed with a toorie (pompom), a grosgrain ribbon band, and occasionally a cockade. The Glengarry is acceptable for formal and informal wear, and dates back more than two centuries, when it first appeared in the Highlands as part of the military dress. Today, men and women wear the Glengarry bonnet, particularly for festive occasions and in pipe bands. You can make your very own Glengarry bonnet out of wool or wool felt, or even velvet with this easy pattern. Of course, cold weather means snuggling under blankets and quilts to warm up. The cute little Scottie quilt square makes a darling quilt or pillow and stitches up quickly. The bonus Scottie applique could be used in a variety of doll-sized craft projects, such as aprons, vests, zipper bags, tree skirts, tablecloths, placemats, and more. What fun to have a coordinated set for entertaining!
