Quickly create three outfits in one with a turtleneck shirt, flared shorts, and a button on jumper that is reversible to create a faux dress. Based on a pattern from 1974, this 70s retro look is made with a reversible (tunic style) jumper that buttons onto wide leg shorts, or make the easy “belted” version for a more modern look.
This fun pattern will let your doll go from playtime to party time by adding an over the head (and reversible!) tunic style, open sided jumper over the flared shorts to create a faux jumper look. Jumper attaches with four buttons, or use an elastic belt for a simpler project. Pull on shorts have an elasticized back, and the turtleneck shirt has an open back to make it easy for little hands to dress their dolls. This pantskirt outfit is easily made from 1/4 yard of cotton fabric and 1/8th yard of knit fabric. (You can also use fat quarters!) Mix and match your fabrics to create a wardrobe of options in just one afternoon. The photo step by step tutorial and easy construction is perfect for even younger seamstresses to learn to sew.
This pattern was specifically designed and tested on 18 inch dolls such as American Girl ® and will also fit most 18 inch dolls such as MyLifeAs, Our Generation, Madame Alexander and more. I really had fun with this pattern! The tunic style top was fun and easy so were the shorts and top. Will be making more of these. Thanks for the fun pattern.
This pattern is very straightforward and well explained as with all Oh Sew Kat patterns. Depending on fabric choices it is possible to make an outfit to suit any occasion and if you make the jumper reversible then you will have 3 outfits in one. I made the version with button holes and I especially love how quick it is to make and I plan to make a few more for my daughter and some of her friends for Christmas as they will make great stocking fillers
This pattern is a really simple, reversible and fun 3 piece set! The turtleneck is by far the easiest tee ive made yet, The shorts are super cute and versatile, and the jumper, reversible too! Here is one set i made with Fall Apples theme, and a cute reversible belt, as i'm not so great with buttons ;) Thanks Oh Sew Kat!
