This beautiful versatile outfit comprises a skirt, corset-style top, faux sleeves and a lacy vest. The skirt has a lined Basque with an elasticized waist and tiny belt loops to carry a pretty ribbon; the body of the gathered skirt is topped with an outer petticoat of four layers of lace and gathered Tulle softens the hem edge. The corset-style top is lined, closes with hook and loop tape in back and has a button placket down Center Front with optional gathered lace inserts. A layer of gathered lace edges the top of the corset to soften the top-stitching. The little pull-on sleeves are gathered at both the top and cuff, edged in lace and have pretty bows to finish. The vest is an oval of heritage lace edged in bias trim. The armholes have facings rather than bias trim for ease of stitching. There is a small hook and loop tape strip at Centre Front for closure which is covered with a tiny bow.
Create gorgeous outfits for your doll with this very versatile pattern – A softly feminine Southern Belle, a cute St. Patrick’s Day lassie, a stunning Cinco de Mayo costume for your Mexican girl, a pretty ballerina or fairy, the options are endless.
This relatively easy PDF pattern is designed to fit 18” soft-bodied dolls such as American Girl®.
Fabric Used: The Vest was made using Heritage (Dutch) Lace and bound with bias trim. A combination of Lightweight Denim and Quilter’s Cotton was used for the Corset, Faux Sleeves and Skirt. Lace Anglais border strips were used for the skirt ruffles. Decorative lace was used on the Corset and sleeve cuffs. An optional accent lace strip or ribbon was used on the skirt ruffle. A thin strip of Tulle was used to edge the skirt hem. Lightweight cotton was used as lining for both the Corset and Skirt Basque.
